Whisky?
Time for another whisky thread?!
Just picked up some Ardbeg, omfg, bottled win!
Got it from here;
http://www.englishwhisky.co.uk
They was all sold out of the chapter 6, so I have some chapter 4, not yet whisky, but still tastes lovely!

I'm currently making my way through a bottle of Oban 12YO. Nice
I also have a bottle from the long closed Glen Mohr distillery. Distilled July 1975 (when I was 6months old) bottled in 2000. Saving that one for a special occasion. My 50th maybe..... 25 years in the cask and 25 in the bottle......
I'm more of a fine gin drinker at the mo

Currently I have an unopened bottle of Bruichladdich 15 second edition and Lagavulin 12 Cask strength bottled last year. The temptation is strong to open the latter, although the Ardbeg reserve I opened last year didn't last long, and the LongRow 10 ain't lasting long either!

Not a fan of the peaty whiskies myself. Still hanging onto the remnants of a Cragganmore 1990 distillers edition and a bottle of Dalwhinnie is currently being consumed.
Going slightly OT but we really do like the new Smirnoff Apple vodka atm.

Me neither - I currently have open a 12 y/o cask strength Glengoyne. Scotlands southernmost distillery apparently. It's not peaty in the slighest, you should try it!
I also have old no 7, Gentleman Jack, Bushmills 10 y/o & Jameson - if they count

I'm on the Famous Grouse ATM, also have an unopened Glenfiddich 12 (?). Had some nice ones in Scotand but didn't bring any back since I have a cupboard full of spirits.
On the subject of brandy, bought some Calvados from Sainsbury's yesterday. Wiil let you know if it's any good Stu!

I've got quite a few on the go, current fave is the Dalwhinnie distillers edition (oloroso finished) which I picked up along at the Glenkinchie distillery along with a bottle of Glenkinchie 12 that they are replacing their 10 with as their standard.
Ardbeg is about as peaty as I can take, only since it has a smooth finish, along with Oban, but I tend to stick to the lighter highland and speyside whiskies

can anyone reccomend me a nice whisky to drink slowly in the evening, nice and smooth and not too expensive(£30 max). I need some class in my life, all i drink currently is jack daniels.
also, how is you guy's preferred method of drinking whisky? i normally go for two finger widths in a whisky tumbler with maybe a couple of cubes of ice.

A step up from Jack at around £30 would be Jack Single Barrel
On the whisky front, a great way to find what you like is to visit a whisky bar - a great educational night out

If you are looking for smooth with no peaty/phenolic taste, you can't go wrong with Glenlivet 10 or 15 year old, both available for under £30 from most supermarkets
Glenfiddich is also another option you could consider
Oh, and pour in as much as you want, but no ice or water

I cannot stand Whisky. I drank some many many moons ago with some coke and it tasted like Battenburg cake and put me off for life. I don't care if different makes taste different either.
Brandy for me.

lying down in cool place? does a whisky get corked like a wine if left standing up?

No one as far as I know! But I'm saying that just because you don't like Whisky mixed with coke doesn't mean you don't like Whisky!!!
