Default is this possible

hey!

I've got 3 old ata133 hard drives of different sizes spare. I've got an old P3 computer in the loft. Could I put xp on but a lite version bung in these 3 hard drives in with a raid card of some sort that makes the 3 hard drives appear as one drive? Then use it as a backup comp and back up to it once a month?

Is that possible??? How?

Cheers

Yup, no reason why not. I currently use a P3 1GHz as my file server though I use Linux for both system and file system stability.

For the most part it is as easy as you describe, though you could go software raid and avoid buying a card, but it's better to get a card and do it in hardware.

I would run linux cause then if you get a virus and accidently back it up you can remove it from the linux server and restore.
