Okay guys - I've been searching and reading through past posts on TA for a while now and using what (very limited!) knowledge I've gained I seek your advice!
Situation is as thus:
Moving into new flat at uni at the end of september and we have to sort out our own broadband. Now the motherfudgers won't let us have Sky tv or cable TV so cable broadband is out. We have to get broadband through a BT line apparantly (I'll clarify further details on this when I speak to them tomorow) but - from what i know - BT lines can only handle broadband up to 8mb.
Now, there are 5 of us sharing this flat each with a wireless laptop, as well as a Playstation 3 and a Xbox360 too so 7 connections. 8mb seems rather paltry? I get 500kbs d/l speeds here at home and we're on 4mb NTL/Virgin.
So what to do? Now I found a link on here for BE broadband which is unlimited (which is a must) and contract free (very useful) but also 24mb - yet it comes through a BT line?
How is this possible? Will it just be effectively reduced? Or is it something to do with BE being ADSL2+ ?
Are there any other good deals bandying about? We've so far had a look at BT (which i think out accom are pushing us towards), Tiscali and BE which I'm leaning towards IF we can get the speeds!
Any help is greatly appreciated
