My new project AP membrane incl. *many pics*
Hello,
I want to introduce my actual project. It isnīt ready at all, but most parts of the installation are finished. The a-pillar and some optical details are missing.
A Hundai Getz, frontend is 2 way up on the dashboard, without destroying the original one!!
Frontamp is an old DLS Reference 200 (modded with Burr brown OPAīs)
Sub is a RCF L15P200AK in ~3cu ft sealed enclosure. Subamp is a MB Quart RA2400 with ~400w rms @ 8ohm bridged.
Regards Gerhard
Here are some of the pics...

That looks pretty good . It should sound mint, but I have a few questions (someone had to I guess ).
What HU are you using (it looks like a Clarion), what sound deadening material is that, and also, does the dash build obscure your view? From the pics it looks like it has eaten into the screen space a little, but not too much .
Great install so far anyway .

Hello Chas,
Thank you
Itīs a clarion dxz958rmc with time delay, 3 way xovers and a channel seperated 3 band parametric EQ...
Ugly design but it sounds very well!
The damping material are usually "MXM" bitumen plates with 2mm thickness. I filled the enclosures with sheep wool (100% natural )
Youīre right, the frontwindow is covered on the sides by the enclosure. In the middle fo the frontwindow you can see booth wipers!
regards Gerhard

Very impressive!
My father-in-law used to have a Getz, and I always thought the dashboard would lend itself well to an install. He now has a Hyundai Matrix, which looks even more suited, with it's really deep dash and centrally mounted instrument pod.

Where did you get the tweets? The website says that Gordon Taylor designed them, is this true?

Thank you! Iīm very satisfied with the soundstage, imaging.
Harry, the auto tomorrow are designed by Gordon <click>
I have measured the impedance of both tweeters, tight selection...
Resonance frequency difference is about 1-2Hz
I want to install them in the a-pillars but the position isnīt fixed at all.
regards Gerhard

Good idea, i should search for one
@Harry, the tweeter without xover costs ~80pound here => http://www.musicexplosion.de/
@RichB86, no i want to build a usual wooden cover, *low-weight* for my 63hp car.
Maybe i rebuild the enclosure to a vented one (also with passive membrane) but thats not for sure...
@hot wheels, thank you very much!

normally you can see when someone has added something to a dash as it does't like quite right.
but are you sure it's not a factory option that dash piece. i've seen the pics but still can't quite believe it
