Default All installed...what now!?!!

After several questions on here I have finally bought everything I wanted from either ppl off here or the net and have got everything installed......just need a lil help with the setup. This is what I have....

Blaupunkt Casablanca MP56 head unit
Alpine PDX-4.150 amp giving 4 x 150w RMS
Diamond Audio M6 components run off channel 1 & 2
A set of Genny 6x9 subs (4ohm) under the rear bench (old skool mini) run off channels 3 & 4

Firstly....what is the SubOut for on the head unit? Can this be used instead of the normal RCA leads and be plugged into the amp?

Secondly....how do I set all the gains and stuff up on the amp? The rears are set to LP and fronts to off. Do I need to change the frequencie settings at all?

Lastly I am probably being picky but I am hearing a very faint bit of noise through the tweeters....am I bound to get this or what? This does not happen when muted or anything and was just thinking it was the recordings!?

I have to say I do like my system and seems to be exactly what I was after....plays everyday music superbly and as loud as I want....the gennys seem to be able to deliver more than enough bass. The amp is fantastic ...very easy to install and so small, the power it gives out seems to do the speakers very well

As a guesstimate for setting up the gains.
Firstly make sure the HU has no enhanced bass or treble(make sure it's a flat signal), turn the amp gain down to minimum ( normally anticlockwise, but check with the book), turn the HU volume up to 2/3 to 3/4 full volume, then slowly turn the gain up until the signal starts to clip then turn it down just slightly.
I think(perhaps someone that knows will be better to say than me) that the the filters should be set as HP for coax or comps( like you have) and LP for subs(your Genesis 6x9's)
As far as the sub out is concerned, it means you have control (to what degree I don't know as I have never used your HU) over the frequencies and maybe other things subwise.I think you can use either the rear out OR sub out as far as the HU is concerend, but please don't take my word for it, it would be best looking at your HU manual.
I hope this helps.

I have a little question for you now.Where abouts did you get you Genesis 6x9's from, as I'm looking for a pair.A Google search did me no help at all, so if anyone else can suggest where I can get some from as well that would be great.

Never used the company myself so dont know......the subs seem good by the way from what I have heard of them so far. My box is not that great......its all sealed but not really thick enough, needs some more sound deadening but I dont want to add any more weight! lol

basic set up help.

basic settings to start with;
headunit;
bass---at "0"
treble---at"0"
any factory preset eq's---off
any added bass circuits---off
graphic or parametric eq's---flatline at"0"
any media expansion circuits---off,(these are used to improve mp3 playback quality).
bass boost features---off

amplifier;
front ch's;
crossover switch---set to high pass
gain control---set to min
freq control---set to approx 100hz
stereo/mono switch---set to stereo

rear ch's;
crossover switch---set to low pass
gain control---set to min
freq control---set to approx 80hz
stereo/mono switch---set to mono
bass boost circuitry---set to min or off

now your ready to begin;
to avoid problems associated with your headunit running out off power and supplying a clipped signal you should select as your max volume a point approx 20% below max, so if using a scale that goes from 0 up to 35,(like alpine's), you should treat say 30 as your max "safe" volume.

so go somewhere where your not going to offend people, select your headunits safe volume and play a 1khz test tone,(you can download it from link previously supplied), on repeat.
on your amp's front settings adjust the gain control upwards until the test tone changes, this change is where your amp is clipping, now back off the gain slightly so the tone is playing as normal again, thats the front's gain set

now play a 50hz test tone, and adjust the rear ch's gain in the same manner, as you hear distortion back off slightly, thats the rear's gain set.

now play a dynamic cd that you are familiar with to adjust the crossover freq's to your taste.

when complete you should have a basic setting that you can tweak to get it as you want it, this won't take 10min's, it will probably take day's.

to balance the bass to your front end you should always alter the highest one, so if your fronts drown out your sub, then lower the gain on the fronts, if the sub drowns out the fronts, then lower the subs gain control.

test tones are available from;

What frequency test tones do I need to set up an active multi-amp system which has a 12" sub, 2 X 8" lows, 4 X 6.5" mids and two infinity tweeters. I have the system fitted and working now and need to set it up correctly.
