Smoke screen security: group buy
This is probably a long shot but is anyone interested in buying the ultimate security device for your car
Its a device which will fill an average size car full of completely harmless smoke in a matter of seconds.
"a thief can't steal what they cant see!"
Im more than definately buying one of these very soon. There priced at £228 + VAT. With the cost of some car alarms on the market its quite cheap!! Theres discounts with group buys so I thought I would ask if anyone is interested?
The website is http://www.credexltd.co.uk Just click on 'VGS' under the Products heading on the left. All prices are also listed on the site.
Cheers

Id prefer to stop potential thiefs the opertunity of getting in the car rather than hindering them once they in.
As good as it sounds Ill stick with my CAT 1 alarm Immobiliser with external proximities and add a rather large internal siren aswell

Indeed, it would be nice to stop them getting in. I've looked into the price of the protective window film and all the prices I've had have been way more than this. I reckon they'll get in no matter what unless u spend serious amounts of money on window film, delocking etc etc.

Well you havnt looked very well, most places offer security film for a 3 door car for under £200. Even normal window film acts as security film to a certain extent and that can be fitted for approx £150.
De-locking is a must as far as im concerned, even if it just means removing the internal "lock to lock mechanism" bars and not removing the lock and filling, smoothing and painting the door.

i was quoted £300 for normal tints and around £600-700 for security tints
so i think the smoke screen thing would be a better option, it attracts more attention too
also, normal tints actually help theives becuase it reduces the noise when they brreak the glass..

AND the security film keeps the glass stuck togeather, so it dos'ent cut the ****** when they get in. Which would be a bonus i guess lol

Mr bump,
you ever broke your windscreen, or rear window?
Seen how quickly autoglass can take a window off from the outside? Literally 1 minute - window film doesnt stop this happening, it just protects from people smashing the window inward.
Fair enough window film will stop the average "muther f**ing stupid type theif", but a professional theif can get RIGHT into the car in about ooh, 30 seconds - they dont have to look after the window like autoglass do.
window film is a good start, BUT if you have a VERY expensive system, then something like this smoke screen may give you another 5 mins before they can get your gear - could pay for itself, you never know!!
Personally i dont use film, or smoke. Just a cheap self installed pager alarm - thats cos im all stealty like - i definitately have a system worth stealing, if people knew it existed!!!
stealth is defo a cheaper way to protect your car, and as a brucy bonus you wont have a group of 3 lads knock you out when you put your key in the car door to get in, as they dont know you have anything worth nicking! You have to remember with all these security devices, that if someone knocks you on the head and steals your keys, then security does nothing.
stuff to think about perhaps?
Stu
EDIT: oh yeah, and if i did get a smoke screen thing, i would definitely need 2, you just gotta see what happens dont you???? (or do you refill them?)

some good points...
stealth install is obviously the best way forward as the majority of the thieves are probably just opportunists. If you dont want a stealth install then you have no choice but to look into this sort of security.
Get blackjax on a Clifford then if someone does nick your keys the engine will cut off 30seconds later. Then the smoke will force them out! Thats my plan anyhoo

thats sensible dood - its a hassle that blackjax thing, but could be worth it - i think playing it safe it best - esp in manchester
my car alarm has a hijack alert switch, if someone gets you to get out the car, you hit this switch on the way out (subtly like ), and the internal siren goes off 30 secs later - you DONT want to be in the car when that happens.......

Count me in..
been looking at the Credex ones for ages but decided they were too expensive..
If you can get a decent discount.. I am in.
I would go round posting on all the car forums and see if anyone else wants in.

yeah I looked into that smoke bomb product and have decided against it. Its basically a smoke pellet which comes with a 12v trigger module. Its actual real smoke as well so i'm not risking it in my car.
U have PM

Funny you should mention that. Ive had people break into my car by putting a brick through the rear window and by removing a rear quarter window.
In both cases they never stole anything and never even got inside the car.
Security film stops the glass from being pushed inwards so the thief will have to smash the glass and then try and pull the glass/film outwards.
De-locked, dead-locked doors and boot are a much better bet, if they cant get the doors/boot open then it will seriously limit there abilities to remove things from your car.
Ben

Simple security advice, wot I do/have.
Keep all speakers behind standard grills.
Get face off HU - ALLWAYS TAKE FACE OFF!
Keep everything else locked out of sight in boot.
No silly "ALPINE" ect window stickers - thiefs read these as "STEAL ME PLEASE".
Turn your music down a couple of mins before entering car parks.
Do as above if you live in a dodgy area (if you don't, turn it UP to annoy all the snobs!)
Try to 'advertise' your system as little as possible.
Follow above tips and you limit your chances of getting you stuff nicked.

I can get hold of some sodium cyanide and HCl if anybody fancies a more permanent solution.
When they mix together they generate HCN gas and your thief will be dead in two minutes.
As long as you keep a bottle of amyl nitrate around you shouldn't have to worry about accidentally setting it off either.
Unfortunately there might be a couple of legal issues to work out before i go into full-scale production. Like the whole pre-meditated murder thing...

you mean a false alarm?
The unit wont work while the car is in motion. If your car alarm does go off by accident the unit only produces the smoke for a specified amount of time. So no worries really.

I will give him a ring this lunch to get an update on the pricing!
I'm pretty sure there odour free as I think the actual smoke is basically very fine water dropplets which gives a fog look.
Will check this lunch anyhoo!!
Ill keep u updated!
