Yep, done that.
Pros. Very solid bass right where you want it.
Cons. Tough to compromise on the enclosure volume versus having passengers with long legs. And the smell of fibreglass for months afterwards is no fun...

Thats awsome and a small clio so dont have alot of room and i was thinking about mounting it up in the dash behind the glove box as the is a big gap that way it would be totally out of sight but i could posssible only fit an 8" may have to put the 6.5" w3
Didnt really think about your idea tho could be a idea to do instead

I'd go one step further:
Pros: Timing is naturally better - all speakers are closer together. You don't need exceptionally powerful bass to get through bulkheads/seats and you hear what leaves the sub, not a part muffled version.
Cons: the sub/enclosure will be a compromise compared to the boot version, cabin space may be lost and passengers will be less comfortable.
However, give the chance I'd have the sub up front every time.

I'm tempted to go with another in the new car once it arrives too

mark have you heard about the stereo integrity bm mk111 subs, 12 its only 3.75" deep , 0.5 foot box MRB ,plays flat down to 20hz .. a box that small would fit under a front seat in a 806 sprogmobile the reviews have been very good indeed ..

I'm going to try a 10 or 12 upfront and forget the rear. Think it could get a bit complicated trying to setup/tune both.

Hummmph ... I wish I had heard of the stereo integrity bm mk111 before I decided upon the MB Quart RSH 252 for the StealthBox for my 993. Looks rather good. Just wonder how long it will take for them to be available in the UK?

Iv been thinking of doing this.
Would there be any issues if
- Mids are in the kicks and the sub was in passenger footwell
- Covering the subs front with carpet etc. So a speaker grill protects the sub and then carpet onto to hide it.
The ideas are rolling.

I guess it depends how much room you have in the kick panels for the speaker you want. If the space isn't so great you may be compromised on the size of speaker and hence lose mid bass due to a smaller speaker.
My sub is covered with carpet and then the OEM floormat goes over the top to make it super stealthy. No difference to the sound to my ears. Most people don't know the sub is there until some bass kicks in. I have a serious mesh grill over the driver to protect from anyone who decides to use the footwell without respect for what is buried there...

Well, since everyone else is posting theirs... here's my rather extreme build from the 306:
Illusion Audio ND10 and a Peerless passive radiator

Not really, no. Certainly better than having it in the boot IMO. It also helps if you use a low crossover point, think mine was around 45Hz on a steep slope.

i would have thought that since its in the front you could have a higher crossover point - the idea of a low crossover point like 50hz when its in the back is to reduce the directionality and increase transparency

Rather extreme build is one way of putting it for the 306! Was the box sealed or left like that? I guess passengers need to be very careful of where to put their feet...
I agree that you can't tell where the sub is if done correctly, and the sub will blend into the rest of the speakers if the crossover and levels are correct. Plus the bass is not muffled by needing to travel through rear seats etc.

Wasn't necessary in my setup - good midbass

The first pic was just one from the build process. It was sealed up with lots of fibreglass and filler before being covered in vinyl.
