There are some seriosusly screwed up individuals inhabitting this planet. A 27 yr old was jailed for 3 years earlier this week, he had kicked, urinated on and coverd in shaving foam a lady whilst she lay dying on her doorstep.

it's not just the british that behave badly by the way

and that was a ridiculously slow rickshaw, and looked like it would be quicker for them to walk. Not saying the old geezer should be blamed and i understand he may not be able to get other work but...

Im not sure how much they usualy cost in singapore but I know the rate in China and Thailand. It did seem like he was charging way way more than he would of charged a local.
Too be fair though Tim 3 people on one is a bit much really even for a fit man.
I do sympathise with the guy.....

yo man

Charges for things in singapore is wayy different from china and thailand, be it for food or cab rites. our standard of living is different.

plus trishaw rides are only for tourist who wanna experience it..

we locals do not sit trishaws as we have better forms of public transport or drive..

but to haul those 3 big guys for $10SGD ( abt 3 pounds or 5 euros) and not want to pay, it suxs.

surely a 70year old + guy can do something other than almost killing himself pedalling one of those "cabs" at 2mph? It strikes me as more sad that he has to do it at that age.

Yo man,

I kinda agree with the guys above, they prob felt a little cheated and also had a little alcohol on board! It would have been quicker to walk.

they should have given him a little money for a token really, but then again they may have done.

hi guys,

$10 for a trishaw ride is not a rip off. considering he had to haul 3 huge grown men. thats like $3.33 each.

an average meal at macs here got near $7.

furthermore, trishaws are not meant as a mode of transport but as a " novelty" ride to experience the city in a different way.

yes it would have been quicker to walk but tourist like to try the trishaws as it is a different experience and these 3 guys know it. its just that they thought it would be funny to torture this old man and think singapore is some third world country where you can bargain down on everything.

aniway, tipsy or not, this is not the way to treat old people.

cheers

I'm beginning to wonder which clowns run Youtube They'll gladly remove content if it's deemed to affect copyright but violence/bullying etc they just leave be in a lot of cases.

The user comments are just as bad on some videos... who moderates it exactly? Seems to be totally out of control..

I agree, it's not how you "should" treat anyone.
But if i saw a rickshaw i'd presume that it's a quicker way of getting from a to b (like they are in london, where they are normally rather quick considering it's london and a bicycle!)

If i was sober, i'd have been hacked off at having to pay for a 3 minute journey at that pace, and alcohol would probably make me voice my opinion - i would have given him $5 as a gesture probably, and probably wouldn't verbally abuse him.

hi there,

down here in singapore, a trishaw is no longer a means of public transport. no one in their right mind would use it as

1) drivers are crazy on the road, it just isnt safe
2) its slow
3) weather is hot and humid all year round.
4) you'll take forever.

trishaws mostly operate in the city area where tourist like to see. they operate ard popular tourist areas.
its more as a 'tour like' thing for tourist as it gives them a different experience from bus tours.

pple visiting here should know that. if u wanna get from A to B, the train, taxi or bus is the way to go.

aniway, like i said, if it were 1 person and $5, maybe so. but 3 men and $5..

just watched this again, and they hardly 'bullied' him! Said 'cheers for that mate' then said 5 dollars is fair as they only probably went about 100m's in that time!! they didn't even abuse him as far as i could see?

Some of the comments on Youtube are hilarious...

"****ING SONS OF BITCHES! If i see them in singapore, i will whack them. I don't even mind killing 3 of them and paying my life for it."

sorry, i'm going to have to agree they didnt really bully him. They offerd him $5 and he refused? They'd had a few drinks, thought 'to hell with this i could walk faster' (which i wouldn't expect be it a tourist ride or not), agreed it wasn't worth $10 so gone for a half way point... no doubt they could have just run away and the old fella wouldn't have caught them up, why didnt they jsut do that if they where bullying *******s they are being portrayed as!

this incident appeared in our local news paper today. http://www.asiaone.com/Digital/News/Story/A1Story20071031-33370.html

the full picture was that the 3 losers, who picked on the old man, had agree on a fee of $15 bucks. when they got off the old man settled for $10 but the 3 losers only wanted to pay $5.... and guess what? in the end they didn't pay a cent and went off in a taxi!!!

i read replies saying the 3 losers might have had a drink... SO WHAT?! u saying that being high on alcohol gives u a reasosn to be a *******?!

On comments that the three of them had bullied Mr Lee, he said: "Looking back, I think we were insensitive. But bullies, no."

The video has generated a lot of heat here in Singapore. If those 3 British brats are still in Singapore, I suggest they leave asap for their own good..........
