Best search engine?
Is it really Google?
I have a couple of websites and a mess about one I have with my ISP, one has been listed on Google for some time but the other is fairly new, and although been spidered a lot by Google, still fails to be listed. The mess about one isn't listed as far as I can tell.
However, Yahoo, has listed all my websites and updates very quickly!! every slight change is picked up in no time.
If I search for my nickname; Brind, I get some results from Google to show where I've been, especially if I add to that the car I drive.
Yahoo returns EVERYTHING on me.
I wanted to list my new website, so I put a link from one website to it and it listed the new site, and in no time my site got listed.
MSN wasn't coming to me at all for my websites, so I saw a link at the bottom of an MSN search saying if I didn't find what I wanted, to click the link and suggest the site.. within 4 hours both of my sites were spidered and listed.
Why is Google so... far behind? I've always used it but wondering if I should just use Yahoo instead as they obviously must have more sites listed.

google does the best. think of how many websites exist, that takes a lot of crawling/botting to index sufficiently. i use nothing but google

don't think which is the best, think which is the most popular.
MSN - as msn is your homepage from the start and there are lots of people with no idea how to change it. There is a search function on msn which is used by a lot of people
google - has to be one of THE most popular search engines
Yahoo - don't really get one with
I used to use www.dogpile.com as it did a load of search engines
It all depends on keywords, how common are the key words etc.

i've always been a yahoo slag, and still am. i used to like the fact it had it's categories and would then use the google engine. (back in the days)
i've never switched to google, and rarely do. the only time i tend to use google is if i cant find something with yahoo - but then google never finds it either.
i do use google on my mobile though, cos the front page is so much quicker to load with the lack of pictures.

Recently, I have been finding googles search results leaving a bit to be desired.. I have been getting more relevant results from MSN/Yahoo..
I am a big google fan but the fact is that you get some really popular blogger who mentions a certain phrase and they'll shoot up to the #1 spot for that phrase in no time - it's just not right!
I still use google as my primary search engine but am increasingly turning to MSN/Yahoo when google gives me crap results (becoming more common)

I guess I'm not the only one getting better results with MSN and Yahoo.

Google for me. I'd call myself a heavy user - 20-50 searches a day isn't at all uncommon. I'd say Google "fails me" on perhaps 1 in 1000 queries, and only generally when I'm after something extremely obscure.
This is quite cool for seeing how Google and Yahoo differ for the same search: http://www.langreiter.com/exec/yahoo-vs-google.html

Google for me almost everytime, I've started using the personalised homepage with a few custom RSS feeds at work recently. Works well

Google for me every time - it rarely fails, has that great custom homepage function with nice easy summary of your gmail inbox and has some brilliant extras as well (e.g. Google Scholar)

Google + industry search engines if I'm trying to find a person, suppliers etc.
Yahoo is hideous, far too much junk onscreen + silly graphics Seems to return okay results but nothing I can't find on Google.
