Anyone know anything about this stuff ? Of where to find out more ?
Looking for something to play VCR/Video Camera into the PC then edit, and burn to DVD.
Any help much appreciated.

In my opinion you cannot beat Firewire for connecting your camcorder to the pc, obviously your camera must have a firewire and you need a card in your pc to connect it to.
Virtually all camcorders have them nowadays and firewire card for you pc can be had for around £20 more or less.. some camcorders come with them, mine did.
Far easier to manipulate video etc, that way as you can control your camcorder via your pc and the quality is spot on with the original.
If you wanted to... this is a trick I found, not that I have reason to do it but.. you can connect your Video recorder to your camera and pass through it live thus making the camcorder act as a capture card, the trick is... you can play a DVD or protected video cassette through your camera and copy straight to pc and in the process you won't be stopped by the Macrovision protection on DVD's and Videos (the code that makes a DVD unwatchable when copied with VHS)
