Hello
Well my current setup at the moment is:
Blueyonder Cable that goes into a smoothwall then from that into a HUB and then to a couple PCs.
I'm moving soon and want to have my internet wireless. So what I thought is could there be a setup like that goes like:
Cable goes into a smoothwall then from that into a wireless HUB that one pc and a laptop work off?
How much would something like that cost(just the wireless stuff not the smoothwall) and can you show me some links to where to get it.
Thanx
:)

What you want is a wireless access point. This plugs into your hub like any other PC. It also needs a power supply (all cables etc included).
This would let you get as many wireless connections as you wanted and is pretty easy to setup. I used a Netgear ME102 with no problems:

If you need more speed than 11mbps (approx 0.6-0.8megs/sec IRL) then you want to look beyond 802.11b but this gets more expensive. I only use wireless for my laptop and it has a wired 100mbit adaptor if I need to move a lot of files :)

It would only be for the internet.
I was thinking also, is there something that could remove the need for the smoothwall but still offer the same level of protection?
Thanx :)

Yep, you can get a Netgear combination 10/100 (4 port) switch and wireless access point, like this MR814, which I have now instead: http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=47365
It's good but lacks the ability to forward port X (external) to port Y (internal). ie, if I want to get a connection to port 80 on any machine, I have to open port 80. Didn't know this when I bought it and it has caused me some trouble.
I suspect most others don't do this though :)

Thanx for that!!! :D
So that will give me the firewall protection for my PC and laptop?
Will any wireless NIC (if thats what they're called) work with that?
Thanx again!
