View Full Version : ATSU - iPod intergration Q.
Will the ainet to ipod dock connector work with say a 9815 or will i have to buy a new HU in october?
This is the ultimate in good ideas for lazy DB Dragging for a start - iPods dont skip for 20 minutes ;)
Sapient Formula 26-01-2004, 02:02 PM That is a very good question, one which I will clarify as soon as I know!
Cheers Atsu.
The press release "suggests" that it will be only some new units that will run it - which i guess is more likely as they will have the instruction set on the main rom of the board, and the adaptor will be nothing other than a interface wire - but you can but hope Alpine choose to release a hardware backed solution to make it retro fittable!
Cheers.
YF51CCU 27-01-2004, 03:57 AM yeah REALLY REALLY interested in this developement and am thinking of buying an ipod! so come on ATSU whats the deal!

This is what is confusing us in the UK, and I have been sent a 1 page info on this from our European HQ, which has loads of things saying "tentative".
I will let you all know when I get solid info.
YF51CCU 30-01-2004, 11:19 PM emailed alpine and this is what i got back:
`Currently only available in the states and not for the European market.`
That was it?
so dunnno if its coming!
Sapient Formula 01-02-2004, 08:57 PM I dont know who you emailed, but:
1. It is not yet available in the states
2. It is coming to the european market.
YF51CCU 01-02-2004, 11:35 PM good thanks for that atsu!!!!
this is a thread that a lot of people are interesterd in i think!!!!
YF51CCU 05-03-2004, 08:43 AM Any more info on this ATSU?
Sapient Formula 05-03-2004, 07:17 PM Latest info (this week in fact) is September availability.
Rob_Quads 05-03-2004, 08:28 PM Just to second the thoughts that there are ALOT of people who are interested in this device. I am looking to get an iPod when I am in the US in next month and to be able to connect it up to my system would be brilliant.
Quite a few at work have also expressed interest when i told them about it.
Rob_Quads 18-04-2004, 10:29 PM Is the latest still a Sept 04 release?
Have you got any details on the connections the box will have. At the moment i understand it will be Dock conection -> Ai-Net - as it connects to the dock connector will it have its own PSU connections to charge/power the Ipod?
Will these lines be filtered etc to reduce ground noise etc?
EVIL_WORM 19-04-2004, 09:45 AM I thought something like this had been availiable for some time

The denson does not provide as much navigation as the new unit will. Also it only works with the older Alpine units rather than the Ai-net which most of the units for the last few years have been produced with.
yeah.
the denison looks a bit half assed TBH.
the alpine thing i will DEFFO be getting ;)
volcane 21-04-2004, 06:45 AM The new Dension ice link is much much better than the old one and would now be an acceptable option if you didn't have an Ai-net Alpine. I have put all my eggs in the Alpine basket and hope the alpine ipod link can work as well as its supposed to.
bilbo__baggins 22-05-2004, 10:54 PM Just found out about this Alpine - iPod thing. VERY INTERESTED! I've currently got the Dension IceLink 1.1 (not had it long!) with my Citroen Philips HU. I started looking into getting a new HU and this is the perfect solution.
Do anyone know if any current models of Alpine HU are compatible, or should I wait for the new ones to arrive? Can't wait!
