On an average nite? I keep setting off car alarms now, even with the windows up driving along at 30MPH! At first I thought it was cool, now I guess it just ****es people off! and me!

It's nice to be able to do, as a bit of a show-piece, but its not something I really try and do on an "average night" as you say... I try and tone things down if I'm driving through built up areas, save p1ssing people off

Yes... I can only do it if the arse end of the car is pointing at the thing, and less than about 20ft away... they are a lot harder that car alarms!

First time wasn't really intentional, pulled up outside a cash-machine at around 9PM on a closed supermarket car-park, to draw some cash out, and the alarm sounded when I got close to it, which was a bit of a b@stard, I had to find another cash machine

wow thats cool blade, imhoping to get a 15@ orion just like u and one of daves usa amps. dunno what kinda power it can take tho! u know better than me! what amp would you choose
+ i need some reccomendations on a battery to go in the boot?
anyway back to the topic. when i got my first R type i could not set them off but when i purchased the second and ported them i can from about 10ft away at the most. although i dont intentionally do it except on my mates car for a laff but like every1 else i tone it down in built up areas mand at traffic lights as i dont want to be called a boom boy!

I set quite a few off with my very 1st install, a JL 12W0 and a Phoenix Gold amp - it was in a 1cuft sealed box with just under 200watts in a Mk3 Fiesta. Albeit, I was usually parked right next to the other car but it did it!

The XXX15 was a different story tho! P1ssed a few people off accidently with that!

Hehe, I cant wait  Was about to ask what does it, but will stop being lazy and go search myself :)

I mean trying to do it, ok, but if you can do it accidentally then thats something!

its the movement in the air, like when you leave your window down it sets off the alarm

Found a thread Blade linked in one of many car alarm threads:

Well, I find that having your window open doesn't make too much difference, low frequencies are the ones that will set alarms off, which tend to travel through the cars bodywork without too much problem, I didn't notice it being any easier having windoes open at the time

Gringo... I don't think you need to worry about p1ssing people off... If you triggered my alarm, I woudln't come over and argue with you! ;)

thats strange as my alarm has the facility to arm the alarm but turn off the internal sensors.

Anyhow its good fun :D

Ah sorry, I misunderstood you James... Thought you meant that driving with your windows down sets off more alarms :)

I dont think I've ever set an alarm off with my system but I dont have it up much around town. My exhaust sets car alarms off all the time, usually when I'm trying. The standard VW alarms set off quite easily. I drove to one of their showrooms the other day to try and get some side repeaters and went past a line of new cars, setting most of their alarms off (through no fault of my own..) so I went straight past and didn't bother going in.

I dont make a point of doingit normally, but when i took my car in for a service and forgot to take the HU facia off i didnt expect them to play with the settings. Anyway it sounded s***, I was not impressed and this was at a main dealer, i could understand it at a backstreet garage. They had parked the car out the back with all the nice shiney new ones, so i found a nice low track and cranked it up as i left setting off numerious car alarms. Note dont ever pi** with someone elses stereo!!!!

hell yeah, even though i have no bass my 'zorst can set em off

when i did have my system i set off a car alarm when driving past a parked car about 40mph, system wasnt set up properly either, one of the rare occasions i gave it some stick on the way back from work :D

Lol at the mo i've got no bass, but the exhaust sets off alarms, and multistorey car parks are a nightmare, i leave each floor going mental with alarms, and people giving my dirty looks, worse when it's busy and i've gotta go up lots of floors!!

Still when the HC15 goes in, that'll probably add to the rumble lol....
