Got a Mondeo hatchback and need something to to shake my world, big time! Use the car for show so need some serious, boot open street bass. Looking to spend 600-700 and was thinking of a couple of 12's and a nice big amp to run them. I shall be making my own custom box as I have a rear strut brace!
Any advice would be great...I just keep looking on here and on CAD and end up confusing my self! So much to choose from and I'm not up to date with the 'hot' and the 'not'...
Thanx,
Scott

that £600-£700 cover the rest of the system, sound dedening etc etc

what do you ahve at the moment in terms of head unit, amp, comps?

Na, just the subs and amp. The rest of the car is sorted...for now anyway.
I have at the mo...
Sony 8100R HU with 10-disc - 4x45w, F+R+Sub 4v preouts.
Kenwood 9044 HU graphic EQ - 4v preouts.
Pioneer 240w 2-way 6x9's in front doors.
Pioneer 180w 3-way 17cm in rear doors.
Pionner 10" Sub + Pioneer 300w amp. (going in the mrs car when I order some new stuff!)
Not sure if I'm gonna run a cheapo amp for the 4 door speakers or leave them running off the HU?? Will be getting some nice components later in the year anyway.
Just need some serious amounts of bass...fed up with my poxy 10"!
Listen to rap/dance/charts...bit of everything, jsut need it to hit hard!
SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!
Thanx
Scott

19"s on a Mondeo - blimey

Hmm Im not really sure where to go with this: would probably suggest in some cases to sort out the front end (interesting having 6x9s in doors: do you like how they sound?) though it is a "show" car as you say...

I should imagine you would want 2 subs for the show stylee, though to include a meaty amp with suitably hefty subs would stretch the budget somewhat. I was thinking 2x RE SE 12" at £370 from CAD, but then you would really want a big 1.2kw+ mono amp for the remaining cash: would probably need to look at second hand for that

You could go with maybe the RE HC 12 at £280, then a Directed 1100d amp

tbh i would get some money for a amp to run your fronts at least as that sony unit is lying, it does not put that volume out at all (we wont go into the feeling about sony head units sq at this time tho) as bass is useless unless your frotn end can keep up with it

I must say I have sensed a 'feeling' about Sony while I been here!! :p
A small amp for the time being will keep me happy up-front then. What about some dropping ability...in and stood about the car at shows.
The 600-700 price is for subs and amp only, leaving the car out of this question. Guide price is only a guide, not set in stone. ;)
