View Full Version : DB Drag/Idbl Prizes.
First off i am posting this in here - if it is not in the appropriate forum mods please move (but could it be left till darren/bumpy have viewed it plz)
Right then further to my comments earlier I am prepared to offer 2 prizes to the fund so to speak.
I am prepared to offer a DE500 or USA400/X as the main prize and a USA200/X amp as the secondary prize.
I would like these to go to new people getting into the sport ideally, maybe by trying to put these to people who are in the new "rookie" type classes.
Also i am pretty laid back about whether we split them 1 on idbl one on DB drag or both on one - as i say i am sure we can go thru this in due course.
Mr Bump 15-01-2004, 02:20 AM Its going to stay, Im am the mod LOL
Me and Darren had a quick chat about this and came up with an idea of your much appreciated donation going to most improved newcomer or some other worthy competitor.
We will, of course, have to have a chat with you before the final decision is made.
Either way it is much appreciated by Darren, myself and the rest at ECC and of course by all the competitors.
Ben
Hmm...........seeing as i am the self appointed honorary team mascot of ECC now i guess i appreciate it as well!
But yeah that is 100% where i would like the prizes to go. Also i would very much like them to be used by the people who win them - rather than sold on.
BassNazi 15-01-2004, 05:00 AM My ideal prize would be to see VD dancing in a hula skirt! :clown:  :shake:
I recon it's just a question of how many beers. :)
hmm.
probably less than you imagine.
however i would have thought that would be something of a booby prize.
still whatever turns you on - i am happy to offer that as an alternative to people - my humiliation costs less than high end amplifiers LOL!!!!!!
P.S. - i have always thought i would look kinda fetching in a kilt ;)
Blinkybill 15-01-2004, 02:07 PM Nice one VD :)
When u mean most improved newcomer, do u mean like someone that comes to an event hits a score, come again then hits higher ? how many events do u have togo to to win the prizes ?
hmm.
i think it needs a bit more refinement than that.
Otherwise i will turn up, do a 120 at volume 6 and throuought the season increase the volume each time and finish on a 155 and keep the amps.
I would HOPE that there could be some sort of panel of judges who also looks at the work that goes into it - for example i would give it for 2002 to Zimsounds - he worked bloody hard on his car that year!
My 2 cents.
Mr Bump 15-01-2004, 04:14 PM Yeah, good point Dave, was thinking of little add-ons to the most improved new comer last nite.
Really need a chat about it all to finalise a few bits and pieces first though.
Judging panel is a good idea aswell ;)
Ben
Blade 15-01-2004, 04:43 PM Very good of you to offer this Dave, top fella...
I'd hope to improve a lot next season, sealed setup will be out in favour of a more SPL friendly Ported design- would hope to go from a 148.7 with the sealed box, to over 150dB with the ported, box, and some tweak and tune
Plus, i'm quite good at bribing judges ;)
Nice one VD
-SuperiorSounds- 15-01-2004, 05:07 PM the generous mr wilkins of bradwell common there, ladies and g's :D
oh and get back to me sometime as you were out again yesterday  :D
Well.
This is YOUR prize people so YOU tell me what you think should be judging criteria.
You set the rules!!!!
I am in too happy a mood today obviously ;)
oh and get back to me sometime as you were out again yesterday  :D
going to be next week most likely buddy - OR - sat/sun days (9-5) i can call from work?
Loudboy 15-01-2004, 10:37 PM Dave,
Your a top bloke. Your generosity is very much appreciated.
As soon as I get some spare time I will phone you so we can sort out what you want to do.
Thanks again.
Darren.
Blinkybill 15-01-2004, 10:45 PM Thats why i meantioned what i did, as i thought it would be hard to give the prize to the best newcomer e.t.c. how are u going to do this ? as most of the best improved person means when they do o.k but slowly work there way up, hard i think :)
Mr Bump 15-01-2004, 11:00 PM I think it will have to be judges decision in a pop idol style LOL
Or maybe even down to competitors nominate thier most improved new comer and judges vote on the nominations??
Ben
James M 15-01-2004, 11:22 PM Very generous Dave! :)
to be honest with you i eat sleep and drink BASS!
now at the end of the day it will be my dream come true to become actively involved in the "scene" as a indrustry bod rather than customer and to be honest the more people who are into it the better.
i feel i have been incredibly lucky to have got U.S. Amps distribution, and i really hope i dont screw it up. I feel that if there is someone out there who irelevant of financial constraints will actively compete and work his butt off to improve themselves then they should be rewarded.
i feel truly lucky to be involved business wise in something i thoroughly enjoy - there is going to be times as an importer i am not perfect, as there is going to be times when you think "what a tosspot" because that is who i am. What I do know though is that i will do all i can to further people who believe that ICE is about the heart, not about whose chequebook can come out to play most often, also the people who are "considering" competing - i will back you, and as dumdum says help you all the way.
Anyway - sorry for the rant - blame a few stella's and AdamR6 (he will know why hehe) but i think 2k4 will be a good year for ICE.
P.S. - and i intend to run an SQ car as well.
James M 16-01-2004, 05:12 AM I can guess ;)
BassNazi 16-01-2004, 05:18 AM P.S. - and i intend to run an SQ car as well.
FREAK!
S.B.L is what you want.
And nothing else.
You WILL see things my way.
:D
lozzy 16-01-2004, 03:38 PM dave that is very genorous top prizes big your self up :D
Hey -
just an update - all being well there will be the amps on display at the ICE Direct sound off for people to have a look at and the like - and also for people to chat with us about how to manage this.
At the moment we are thinking of asking some of the more vetran competitors to nominate some of the "newbies" to us.
zimsoundz 30-01-2004, 01:05 AM Dave,
I look forward to seeing these amps this weekend...Your generosity is much appreciated.
I'm taking this down as a sticky, unless anyone objects ! (tidying up the forum a little lol)

I shall look forward to saying hello mate, I'll be driving Daves golf down so at least I can say I've driven a loud car at least once
BlackMagic 30-01-2004, 02:10 PM Im sorry to sound ignorant and thick, im interested in joining but i don't know what it involves and what i need to do.
i don't think i will have any chance of winning your prizes Van Dave! ive never competed before and don't really have much idea about getting a high SPL, all i know is its over 130 db's and i have a 15" RE SE sub and hopefully this weekend a RE 35d.
Thanks for the prizes tho im sure they will be put to good use from whoever wins them,
Regards
Ryan
i dont think the prizes are going to be awarded to the highest scorer.
they are (hopefully) going to be awarded to people "making the effort" and going "the extra mile".
Nothing has been firmly decided yet.
Blade 30-01-2004, 03:29 PM Sounds great Dave... As the other gents have said, hats off to you for doing this... Tis exactly what IDBL needs really, sponsorship from manufacturers/distibutors same as the SQ side of things...
BlackMagic 30-01-2004, 03:29 PM not scared of putting the effort in!
its all for good cause!
think it is going to be tied to db drag not idbl though..........................
