View Full Version : F.A.O.> SPL Competetors This Season
Blade 14-01-2004, 09:57 PM Out of interest, which SPL format will you be competing in, for the up-coming season?
If you intend to do events with both organisations, you can select both boxes :)
Mr Bump 14-01-2004, 10:14 PM What about if you intend to run events for both organisations?? :p
The car will primarily be a dB Drag car. I wonder how many countries it will be burped in this year ;)

Thank you Mr VD, its noted and appreciated that some of the forum can actually read the Queens English.
I can almost gaurentee there will be more people compete at dB Drag than any other format in the UK this year.
;)
Ben
zimsoundz 14-01-2004, 11:28 PM patience children, all shall be revealed hey mr bump ;)
i'll compete in both, and try to attend all of them again this year :D
mosguido 14-01-2004, 11:43 PM Im considering dB Drag but not 100% sure yet, need to do lotsa work to my car really else ill look like an ass :D
Loudboy 15-01-2004, 12:04 AM You lot are really going to hate me.
What if I was to say that if you compete at an IASCA event you could also be competing at a dB drag event. :D
The reason being that at all 2 day IASCA events. You will be able to compete in iDBL on one day and dB drag on the other. Or if you so choose you can compete in both. The details are being finalised in the next few days. One thing you might like is that it looks like there will be no extra cost. :D
As soon as I have all the info I will post so you all know about it.
Darren.
James M 15-01-2004, 01:02 AM that sounds promising
ooh.
goody. and gumdrops.
mini_basser 15-01-2004, 02:18 AM Im gonna vote both as I have no preference: will just turn up to the ones that are easiest to get to, and go with the flow :D
M:B
Northern_Sounds 15-01-2004, 03:42 AM I'll probably be competing in both the formats.
Especially if it's true what darren said about no added costs!!
only think there is IDBL over here in ireland???
but with that new iasca thing perhaps dB drag is also an option.
whats the diff between IDBL and DB drag? :)
i wouldnt mind giving it a go, but i doubt i'd do anything compared to the real big boys.. it could even be a little embarresing
James M 15-01-2004, 04:51 AM thats what I thought Tej but you would be in a lower class like me, I'm definately gonna compete next year :)
Northern_Sounds 15-01-2004, 05:08 AM whats the diff between IDBL and DB drag?
Think there are a few rule difference, then a few class differences.
IdBL you're in the lanes against anyone. Different classes, whoever. Just the highest scores in your class that win.
dB Drag you go head to head against other people in your class. Have qualifiers then Quarters, semis and finals. Does make it a bit more interesting to watch as you know whos who.
Also dB drag is more internationally publicised so it's easier to compare your scores to rest of the world.
Mark
Mr Bump 15-01-2004, 05:51 AM dB Drag is better for the spectators and in general you get more burps per comp.
Its having a complete rule revamp to help new competiors "fit in" which will help all the new guys no end, chances are they will end up in the same class as each other and give them people of their own experience to compete against.
Ben
James M 15-01-2004, 06:02 AM I think thats what initialy put me off, being a noob to db drag the thought of competing against people who have been doing it for years just makes you think you don't have chance
Mr Bump 15-01-2004, 06:10 AM Oh you will definately have a chance.
I have just noticed that you have a XXX tho, if it is a quad you will unfortunately not be in the lowest class but you will still be out of the way of all the "big" boys ;)
Ben
James M 15-01-2004, 06:14 AM I'm in luck then because it's DVC and I will be running a US Amps 2000X
is there a max voltage limit in the lowest class?
Mr Bump 15-01-2004, 06:23 AM Well thats good then.
There is a voltage limit but it is based around a 12volt system. At the moment your battery isnt allowed to have more than 14 volts in the lanes but it may change.
Ben
Blinkybill 15-01-2004, 12:55 PM Don't worry about being a newb, next time will be be my forth go !
On my first time i hit 112.6dB and blew up stuff ! i am sure u will do better than that lol
Andy@React 15-01-2004, 01:43 PM Well, me and andy were just gonna do IDBL next season, but with all these changes to DB drag we might have to enter both (especially if theres no extra cost!!:))
If we run in DB drag though, were gonna have to build our new systems very carefully to follow all those rules in DB drag, hopefully they will be finalised soon!
Steve
Voltage aint an issue - you cant run the amp over 15.0 anyway!
It is 13V at rest i think - which means engine off no load (so 12.6 would be the expected) Basically so you have to run a "normal" 12v system!
No biggie there!

In that case, I think I may just give preference to dBdrag :)
M:B
Blinkybill 15-01-2004, 10:47 PM Errr if i can get to them then it will prob be the one thats on a Subday :) ;)
Mega Heavy Bass 16-01-2004, 01:43 AM Is there going to be dB drag at Mean Street Cruises then?
Mr Bump 16-01-2004, 01:55 AM Is there going to be dB drag at Mean Street Cruises then?
Unfortunately we cannot comment on the situation of MSC and dB Drag at this time.
There wasnt any there last year though.
