any coments and additions please add below
Blade 13-01-2004, 09:23 PM Sounds like you've got just about everything covered :)
You might want to consider adding a little more midbass performance upfront though, but other than that, sounds crackin
Mr Bump 13-01-2004, 09:29 PM 3 amps on 4 subs??
Hell just buy another amp ;)
Ben
davemac59 13-01-2004, 09:33 PM LOL should sound EVIL
mini_basser 13-01-2004, 10:22 PM If youre gonna go that crazy, you might want to consider and alternator upgrade and/or more of some cheaper batts (think trucks  It is a van, so you should have space...)
Assuming that all the Stinger/Voodoo stuff is wiring, you could save some £ by using welder 0gauge cable etc
Other than that, you're clearly insane and I envy your budget :p

lozzy 13-01-2004, 10:56 PM 3 amps on 4 subs??
Hell just buy another amp ;)
Ben
i forgot that there will be 6 SE15s in total running of 3 2ch amps

didnt think of that truck batteries are a good idea ! cheers M:B
this project will start in the summer and carry on till its finnished
the van is a astra van W reg or so what ever i can get, ply lined and dynamatted :D
the enclosure will be tunned for street bass
can you recomend any quality midbass drivers ?
cheers for the help

jamiebae 13-01-2004, 11:22 PM I'd try and streach to a slightly better sub (or 6!) like the HC, XXX or Orion H2 if you're spending that much already.
lozzy 13-01-2004, 11:28 PM i could have 3 HCs running off of that system but it has got to be extreme also i have 2 SEs here at the moment the plan was to get quite a bit of cone area and the abbility to drop low
jamiebae 13-01-2004, 11:34 PM Ah, I was thinking that the difference between buying 6 SE15s and 6 HC15s was only going to be about £500 but if you already have 2 SEs then it's probably best to stay with them.
mini_basser 13-01-2004, 11:41 PM Just curious, but do you have any plans of how to fit 6x15" subs and a very large port on the face of a wall? Unless of course you arent walling it and are going to make some kind of raised floor full of subs....
;)
M:B
lozzy 13-01-2004, 11:54 PM urm this is the plan of the box is to get the ported twin design that RE gave me and make 3 of them then put them to gether the height is perfect for the back of the astra van and will fit sung
lozzy 13-01-2004, 11:56 PM or just design a wall and box
-SuperiorSounds- 14-01-2004, 04:01 PM err - 3grand on ice? what is it that you do for a living exactly? pls remind us :)
lozzy 14-01-2004, 06:05 PM IM a student  on 90quid a week will be going into full time work at the end of this year
Blade 14-01-2004, 06:20 PM I'm stil a little confused about how your gonna fit em all in... Any diagrams? As M:B says, it's shift a whole lot of air, and need plenty of port area
-SuperiorSounds- 14-01-2004, 06:24 PM i see what he's planning in a way - my mate had a ford escort van about 6 year sback with a huge coffin like box containing 8 jensen 10's and that MOVED air like nothing else. good box that was too :)
so i guess thats what he's gonna do :)
silly really :clown:
lozzy 14-01-2004, 11:03 PM il put a diagram up a bit later
6x4cuft = 24cuft in total dunno about port area yet
Mr Bump 14-01-2004, 11:33 PM Id suggest alot more than 24 cubes.
Ams got about that for 3 x 15 XXXs
Maybe 4 x 15s is a better idea for a wall and big port set up.
6 x 15s will fill the wall and leave no space for port.
Ben
mini_basser 15-01-2004, 12:56 AM There are ways round running out of port and cone area I believe
lozzysorion: you on MSN? Ive got some ideas, just would like to see if you've thought of the same thing :D
M:B
lozzy 15-01-2004, 03:26 AM i am on now mate add me djunreel@hotmail.com :D
thinking about it 4 will be better and room for a port
Blade 15-01-2004, 06:21 PM I was thinking the same as Ben... It's one thing being able to fit the subs, but with heavyweight movers like 15s, and pretty beefy ones like the SE, your gonna have to add a whole lot of port on too... Also bear in mind the space you will lose to mount your amps in, and space your extra batteries
Mr Bump 15-01-2004, 06:28 PM 6 x SE 15s need 330+ square inch of port opening if tuned to 30 hz
4 of the same subs need roughly 220 for the same frequency.
You can of course use less but those are optimum size for that specific sub ;)
Ben
lozzy 16-01-2004, 03:07 PM so is that a huge port?
lozzy 16-01-2004, 03:17 PM or 2 18s hmmm possibilities
Mr Bump 16-01-2004, 04:26 PM Not huge by most standards but still large!
Roughly 30 x 10 inch for the large one or 20 x 10 for the smaller one.
Ben
lozzy 16-01-2004, 05:19 PM thats not to bad then
what air space does the XXX18 and HC Require?
Mr Bump 16-01-2004, 05:32 PM More than the SEs due to better power handling and better XMAX. Will need more port area per sub aswell.
Ben
lozzy 16-01-2004, 05:39 PM i see il just stick to the SEs
