View Full Version : Noise polution levels???
jonnysmooth 12-01-2004, 07:39 PM i know the police are really crackign down on noise pollution and pulling over people and giving them on the spot fines where i live,
what right do they have to do this, and surly you can argue against it as their must be a certain DB that it must be over?? are thjeir any legal limits and i always thought it was down to Enviromental health people, for noise polution, and seing as the police cant/dont have any means of measuring the noise with them how do they know if you are over/under what is classed as OK and too LOUD??
any ideas guys??
puggie 12-01-2004, 07:58 PM It comes down to what they (the police) deem to be apropriate, If they think your too loud, then your too loud and you will get slapped with a fine. There is no set SPL that is too loud (basically too hard to accurately/reasonably measure and enforce).
jonnysmooth 12-01-2004, 08:03 PM what a ******, so ill just have to keep the remote in my mates hand on the pause button then lol
they knew we was playin but hever saw us as we always went past em with it on pause lol, they wernt to happy though, im running 3 x 15" single voice coil strokers at the moment, totally kicks ass
running around 4.8kw into the 3 of em
black-cat 12-01-2004, 08:09 PM I THINK (so don't quote me on this) that the word of the law is along the lines of 'audible outside the car'. ie. if they can hear it with all the doors and windows closed then its too loud.
But as with everything its down to how the plod is feeling at the time.
Blade 12-01-2004, 08:10 PM I think as long as your not daft, the police aren't going to pull you over, and jack you...
That means not throwing out 150dB+ with the windows down, in the local high-street, in plain view of a jam sandwich
It's all about common sence, if you don't take the mick, you most likely won't get pulled :)
SwitchBlade 12-01-2004, 10:12 PM I thought noise pollution law was only enforced at night, as a side note.7pm->7am or something.
mini_basser 12-01-2004, 10:19 PM I thought noise pollution law was only enforced at night, as a side note.7pm->7am or something.
I should imagine thats when they are most likely to give you a rollocking. As Blade said, cruising the high street dropping The Quad at 150dB and knocking over old grannies is clearly gonna put you in the sh*t
If youre on open roads etc then I cant see how the would notice or bother. Basically dont go spanking it in urban areas full stop
The problem would be how loud you percieve as too loud: suppose the best thing would be to turn it up and stand outside the car (do this away from any other forms of life of course :p) and check if you can here it
M:B
EDIT: that install sounds insane johnnysmooth  You had it metered?
Mystical Sound 13-01-2004, 12:56 AM 3 Strokers?!?! Jesus Christ!

Took the words right out my mouth :D
As blade said, its all common sense, Also playing VERY loud in a heavily built up area, or town is yelling for a thief
jonnysmooth 13-01-2004, 07:24 PM i dont live anywhere near their lol, i go back to my mates and we just go chillin, got a fair bit of security on it, pagers, ect... all delocked, security film, the works, spent 4 k on security, trackers ect..
