View Full Version : susbsonic filter?
zabe_1 10-01-2004, 01:19 AM what are these, is this the low pass filter i have on my nemesis, or something else altogether, been told i need one for my ported box, but dont have one at the moment, nothing installed yet tho, however going to be installed soon...thx
Woosey 10-01-2004, 01:23 AM they stop a sub playing freq below its F3 ive set mine to 25hz just to protect teh sub from 1 hz tones etc
zabe_1 10-01-2004, 01:25 AM where do u get these from, or do they come on the hu, i have a alpine 9815rb one..
Woosey 10-01-2004, 01:27 AM no they come on the amps
zabe_1 10-01-2004, 01:28 AM mm, do they come on the nemesis, i see one for low pass filter, and gain, maybe not looked hard enough...any ideas..
Blade 10-01-2004, 01:32 AM Not all amps have them, and the Nemesis are pretty cheaply made, and may not have one... They are pretty important though, and, as Woosey ays, need to be set a few hz below tuning frequency
zabe_1 10-01-2004, 01:34 AM damn, lol, so what would u do in my situation, i know ppl use nemesis's a lot, do they not use the subsonic flter then....can u use something on a hu, to cut out those frequencies to the sub..eg under 25hz..
Mystical Sound 10-01-2004, 01:46 AM You can't use it on the HU, cos' it doesn't come with one... the amp usually comes with a 'subsonic' filter, if your nemesis doesn't have one just buy yourself an aftermarket add-on..
Blade 10-01-2004, 02:01 AM Personally, I'd look for some sort of active crossover I could use, that incorporated a subsonic filter
zabe_1 10-01-2004, 02:07 AM active crossover, anyone out there with nemesis, what do u use, is an active crossover allow u to go active an all that as well...really wish i knew this b4,lol...as would have gone for an amp with this on,,is this the case with only ported boxes, what happens if u got for a sealed one, do u have to worry about subsoic filters etc...
Onnie 10-01-2004, 02:59 AM u dont REALLY need it, just be sensible and not play 25hz tones at full voulme..
for everyday normal music u wont even need it.
i ran mine without it and i know dumdum did for ages as well with no probs.
:)
chiark 10-01-2004, 03:30 AM A bass cube has one - I got mine for 50 quid...
Blade 10-01-2004, 04:27 AM I personally wouldn't chance it, having seen what it can do to subs in the past with not having one. Kinda rules out you playing any bass-tracks too :(
bassmechanic 10-01-2004, 04:45 AM live life dangerously rich :clown:
yeah, its not good! when i had the VP2s they never had a subsonic, and i had the SE bottom out at about 10hz at full whack(600wrms!) :s
wasnt very nice!
Dean A 10-01-2004, 05:00 AM Mine is set at 27 :( I think thats too high now
zabe_1 10-01-2004, 08:06 AM so is there nothing i can do with the hu at all, to make it sort of minimise the effect, if not wheres a good place to get crossover, what im thinking is, can i maybe use the nemesis for a while, then maybe just sell the nemesis, and get a better amp later, like pretty soon, and swap em, how easy si it to remove an amp from a set up, not to hard is it...
Onnie 10-01-2004, 05:49 PM PM sent m8 :)
