2.5 tuned to 40 will work well!

1st time I`ve noticed this section.

Good to see other DD owners on board.

BTW: I`m no GURU. I have just used DD subs for quite a while.

Other people on this forum will have a far better knowledge than me.
EF MAX / Dum Dum / to name but a few.

Having said that. I`m glad to help you out as much as I can. With what limited experience & knowledge I do posses.

Oh. the 1100d is an excellent amp. I use to have two of them.

Lets get started.

What van dave has said will sound very good depending on surface area of port etc.

In fact my old SPL port is tuned to 43Hz.

Anyway.

1st of all forget a sealed box for SPL.

I have found that "PORTED IS BEST"

I always use a box that will allow you slot other ports into the the box.

This way you can have the best of both worlds.

You can even have a sealed enclosure for that SQ feeling if you`re so inclined.

Let us know what you are after from your SUB.

I`ll run the sub through BBpro & see what I can come up with in your case.

Hi megabass

At last someone else on board using DD, everybodys talking about RE's
I have been using a 9515 and viper amps

but recently i have bought a spl dig-1450 d class amp (sold my rockford) , i am thinking of running a dd3512 @ 1ohm

What do you think of this sub and combination?

:) I`ve been using DD subs for two years now.

Once I find a brand that performs or works well for me I usually stick to it.

I`m slowly working my way up the DD ladder.

I started with 4x DD2012 - Blew them up after 10 minutes. Shoving well over 3500wrms through them.

Now I`ve got 3x DD3512 - If they blow it`s a few DD9512 next.

If the DIG 1450 kicks out that amount of power then you should be well pleased with the results.

I think you`ll be O.K.

Set the gains up properly & make sure you don`t play it at full volume for long periods of time.

To be honest you may be better off getting a 2nd opinion from someone else who has experience using the DD3512 for normal listening at very high volumes & wattages.

Reason being.

I only play at full volume for a couple of seconds. SPL Burp.

For music I play at half gain or less.

I have to be very strict with myself now. I don`t want to blow these DD3512s up...

cool.... sounds like a plan.....

from what i've read i am going to build ported box...

need a design that is going to work though....

just a quick question.... what is possble spl wise with my 3512 and 1100d? late 130s? 140 maybe???

looking for something i can use everyday.... so a "streetbass" suited design! tuned to around 40 ish seems like the best option??

I`ll take a few pics and post them to you.

I don`t know how to post them on the forum so you`ll be getting them via a Kodak easyshare program.

Thanks very much, yet again for your help Bill :D

Yep that`s my box on the kitchen floor at the moment.

I`m half way through reducing the box volume.

The port plug you see there is the SQ one. It is 6"diameter.

The SPL port (Not pictured is about 6"x15") and is fitted in the same area as the one you see now. It was tuned just below the RF of the car.

For high Tuning the port just has to be left as it is. Empty.

i had a DD 3512 running off a 1100d in my fiesta boot!

4 cu/ft tuned to 35Hz OOOHH YYEAAAH! dropped like a mofo! :D :D

should be able to hit 140 easy (old mics) with low tuning. 140dB on the new mics would be possible with high tuning, but could require more power ;)

what car is this going in?

That box was in the boot of my Escort MKIV.

With 4000wrms. It hit 153.2dB With a low tuned port.

Going back in again soon.

There are some pictures of my car & install in Last months TOTAL CAR AUDIO.
