All reflective surfaces, with the exception of the windshield and dashboard, must be located a minimum of 12 inches (30.48 cm) from the measurement sensor. (Intent: Reflective surfaces shall not interfere with the measurement equipment.) For clarification purposes, the dBDRA considers any surface greater than 3/8" (9.525 mm) in width to be a reflective surface.
12" inches away depending on size

can't believe no one replied to this, if you install dash mounted mids/tweets, a kazoo or a small chimp all we do is make sure the mic is 12" away and move the sensor spot over a little :)

If they where SPL chimps and SPL Kazoos they can give some impressive gains
The yanks are having a big argument about it at the moment on termpro as judges on the east coast are allowing kazoos and some small breeds of chimp but west coast judges are not allowing either. And just to make things worse I think one judge in texas is letting people use any type of wind instrument as well as gorillas
The sooner Wayne rules on it the better as far as im concerned as I know I guy here who can get me SPL chimps that play SPL kazoos for a fantastic price and im pretty eager to get one mounted on the dash of the golf
