Bass_junkie123 22-03-2008, 02:23 PM It is allowed but it's extreme class for you i'm afraid........ Yup, which means you probably now have MUCH more to do than just some steel bar! turn it up 22-03-2008, 02:31 PM A no i would be in the super street class.Could i use timber instead or is there anything i can do WonkyJon 22-03-2008, 08:19 PM Pinch the doors in a bit so they shut tighter? can do this with the catches or... if it's the top of the doors (around the glass) wind the windows down and give the top of the door frame a bit of a tweak inwards... done it on lots of cars where the doors dont seal very well.. be gentle though. dont want to bend it too much! mini_basser 22-03-2008, 08:24 PM Moved to the dBdrag forum for you, seeing as it's a rules specific question :) wilfy 22-03-2008, 08:30 PM u will prob find if you do this it wont help your db score even if it does stop the flex. I'll try the catches but not going bending the door on a daily drive car lozzy 22-03-2008, 09:39 PM any modifcation to the door like that is bracing it would put you in extreme if you want to stay in street you can only apply sound deadning to the doors BassNazi 22-03-2008, 09:44 PM Its more the middle belly of the door outer skin that is flexing that i was trying to stop. Can't use timber strus either no Yes you can. It IS within the DB drag rules. It just simply changes your class you compete in. Are you bothered about what class you compete in or do you just want to listen to your system without the doors resonating? WonkyJon 22-03-2008, 09:57 PM I'll try the catches but not going bending the door on a daily drive car it's not a bend as such.. just a gentle tweak... if you ever buy a new car and there's a bit more windnoise than you'd expect I can guarantee if you took it back to the garage it'd be the first thing they'd do! entirely up to you, and i understand the apprehension of 'bending' your doors.. but if you are gentle it's fine :) As noted, for some reason it may not help your score on the mic (dont know why, I've only just started chasing numbers.. so I've got a lot to learn!) wilfy 22-03-2008, 10:02 PM it's not a bend as such.. just a gentle tweak... if you ever buy a new car and there's a bit more windnoise than you'd expect I can guarantee if you took it back to the garage it'd be the first thing they'd do! entirely up to you, and i understand the apprehension of 'bending' your doors.. but if you are gentle it's fine :) As noted, for some reason it may not help your score on the mic (dont know why, I've only just started chasing numbers.. so I've got a lot to learn!) i think it depends purely on the car, but try this test with door shut & then test with door open, which is louder??? i'me sure i've read that people acctually wind thier door catches out rather than in WonkyJon 22-03-2008, 10:06 PM i think it depends purely on the car, but try this test with door shut & then test with door open, which is louder??? i'me sure i've read that people acctually wind thier door catches out rather than in Blimey.. I really have got a lot to learn  makes sense though.. and thats where it all comes down to testing I guess :) wilfy 22-03-2008, 10:09 PM where bouts are you, maybe someone can help test with termlab WonkyJon 22-03-2008, 10:28 PM where bouts are you, maybe someone can help test with termlab I be in the shire of gloucester :) (or should that be :( ...) wilfy 22-03-2008, 10:32 PM I be in the shire of gloucester :) (or should that be :( ...) ah well i can't help you there, but i'm sure there must be someone close, will you be at phat beats??? WonkyJon 22-03-2008, 11:04 PM looks like I'll have to be!.. still it's 'only' a 300 mile round trip  Best get me membership sorted on payday! I'll have to play in the 'noob' anything goes class...I've not read (and digested) the rules and I've probably done some stuff that puts me up in some silly class for a single 12 boot install... 'Turn it up' - sorry chap, seem to have completely hijacked your thread somehow.. oops firestarter 23-03-2008, 09:27 AM If you want to stay in the Superstreet class, you can ONLY have sound deadening UPTO 4mm thick, no more n the front doors. Anything more tham 4mm sound deadening puts you in extreme. turn it up 23-03-2008, 04:46 PM Grand job that will do so don't want to be found to be cheating or in the wrong class. Thanks lads bondy 23-03-2008, 05:11 PM I be in the shire of gloucester :) (or should that be :( ...) if you can wait a week or 2 you can pop over (I've gotta find the termlab first!!) |
