ok as this might be my first season to go at bass race i need to understand a few things.

if i want to be competitive over the whole season am i gonna need to be at most events???

if so would i be better off going in the 129.9 class and gettin 129.9 easily like i did at car expo, or would i be better of pushing to get 137-8 db but not winning that class at every event???

You get extra Geoff points in 139.9 class plus more respect cos its harder.

If your happy just doing 129.9 then do that, just have fun and dont get too carried away chasing tenths.

or an epic

doesn't appeal to me, why change the tune when there should be one for you.... i have plans anyway, i've jacked the sq in so my attention is on this & spl now

or an epic

an epic wont make your system louder Jim

it will add lower bass but cant make you louder

True but Sam is using his for maximum effect to play in 139 class on a 142? system.

Thats because he cant find a tune that plays at his peak - he is using the epic to adjust the tune so it plays at his peak - thus making it play as loud as possible

a tune that played at his peak would do the 142s without the epic

So you saying if I get an epic and tune it to play at my peak I can play in 139 as well? cant be that easy

an epic will not make your system louder - the end!

All the epic does is recreate bass at a lower frequency than the frequencies actually in a song.

if you have trouble finding a tune that peaks at your low peak then an epic can help by taking the bass thats in a song and recreating it lower

as a rough guide (very rough) an epic can make 60-70hz bass and make it lower say 30-35hz

if your system is peaking that low you will have trouble finding commercial tunes that peak at 30-35hz but with an epic you could use tunes that have 60-70hz bass and change them using the epic so that they have loud bass at your peak. Thats what lozzy does with Pure Shores and andy@react did with the jamiroquai tune.

your peaking at 48hz if i remember right which means that an epic will not be of any use to you

If your burping at 145-146 you should be able to do 139.9 bassrace with the right song but an epic wont make a car that burps at 140-141 into a bassracer - it can only be used to modify the peak freq of a song to make it suitable for your system to play loud

anyway!!!! :p

no ne has answered my question, is it better from a points point of view to go in the 139.9 and only score 137ish or stick to 129.9 and score 129.9 but come 2nd or 3rd through mistakes in final's (like i did at expo)

go for 139.9 for the challenge :)
As the season rolls on, you'll upgrade and change things and edge closer to 139.9... thats got to be more satisfying than going down the easy route :)

if there was only a few people doing 139.9 then yes it would be worth it but your looking at 4+ people at each show all doing 139.9

work on the car but still compete in 129.9 then when you are getting close to a 145-146 burp do a few test runs.

Remember it will be easy to kill your system chasing 139.9 by hammering it at 100%. if at 129.9 your system is only runnign at 75% you have less chance of killing something

the only time i have EVER got the dd's smelly was doing a flat out bassrace run, voltage dropped to 11.9 and it was clip city, i bottled it 10 seconds from the end.
