Cons = none :D

In all honesty though, its pretty damn good. It can be fairly noisy depending on which version you get (mines fairly old serial i believe so has the old noisy drive in it). And imo their hasnt been any decent game releases for a while, but should be a fair few over the summer.

Xbox live is awesome. For £150 you cant go wrong!

My mate has both and he says the 360 dicks all over the PS3 in terms of visually and on live. As for the games i bought gears as soon as it came out and haven't put in back in its back since then its flapping awesome. But if you do a 360 you must hook it up to the net you get some much more when you do.

I'm not really a proper "gamer" as I get too much grief off my wife to be able to sit and play every day/night but I can't stop playing the 360.

Gears of War, good game single player, awesome on live
Rainbow 6 Vegas - currently playing in single player
PGR3 - Good for quick blasts and racing mates online
Lego Star Wars II - good for a laugh with the missus on multiplayer
Forza 2 comes out soon, GTA IV, DIRT and a couple of others that look good before the end of the year hopefully.

I dont use the media center capabilities of mine as its sat next to my PC but thats another reason IMO if you'd use it.

For the money I think they're great and Amazon marketplace do most games for £15-£20 brand new or almost new in perfect condition.

Even for an opnion, that's just wrong :p

They're both so similar graphically at the moment...it's only likely to change when developers start pushing them both more (as has been said many times on here)

I like them, and am still tempted to get one. The noise issue bugs me a bit, as does the controller design (I grew up on PlayStations)

So did i, and i dont find the controller a problem at all, its more comfortable than the ps controller imo.

My mate also has both and prefers the 360, ive not used a ps3 personally though.

He (My mate) Never plays his PS3. He says gears is so much better than RFOM in terms of graphics and game play. But i haven't used a PS3 so i can't comment :D

Just buy a 360 Rob

You dont even need a mate, just host a public co-op game and let some stranger join

The only downside to xbox is the new messenger feature, ever tried to have a conversation using a joypad? Impossible doesn't come close

It plugs into the normal controller. I cant see it getting in the way though tbh.

Speaking of the updates, anyone had these yet? Dont think i have, thought they were out Mon 7th?

The bottom bit is an add-on to the standard controller. Completely forgot about that thing.

Doh, yea just got home and its updated.

Yea you get online updates for both games and the console. You can download demos, maps, extra game content.

the hard drive is ridiculously noisey....nearly everyone has had either a replacement or something repaired on it, im currently looking into getting mine done as its always coming up with "cant read disk" after playing a game for 5 minutes. But apart from that its pretty brilliant tbh, im obsessed with oblivion and GOW, the graphics on a HD tv are just sick...

and im a ps3 fanboy

if only u could buy full games over live

Hard drive or disc drive? 2 different things

Mines fine - bought it xmas just gone - quiet enough and no probs so far. I'm pretty sure the problem consoles were the very first batch released over 12 months ago.

I would suggest to anyone who has the update to not sign into msn using the 360. Everyone time you sign into live now it signs into msn on there so I keep getting logged off the laptop :( chuffing annoying.

Rossi, you need to disable auto login for Messenger mate. Go to your gamertag and go to the section where you set it to auto login to live, there is a new section for Messenger :)

As for reasons to get a 360

Awesome games and plenty of them.
Live is excellent
Media extender
It's the most played console i've owned since my SNES/Megadrive days mostly thanks to Live.
Best controller i've ever used.

Negatives:
Not quiet (if you are that anal about noise then do not get one ;) )
Reliability is questionable, i'm on my third.
It isn't a Playstation and it's from Microsoft so it can't be good, can it? ;)

I keep saying this but if you can get it for a damn good price and you like the games already out for it and those that are going to be released then get one. If you like games that are only coming to the PS3 then wait for those to be released and get that.

I am not even going near the PS3 vs 360 debate as I'm tired of it and it bores me to hear the usual "but the PS3 has so much potential and will trounce the 360" or "look at all the multiplatform games so far, the 360 versions are miles better", both statements are complete bs.

Completely aside from absolutely everything else, that is ridiculous!

Have you had warranty replacements so far? What happens when it dies out of warranty? :whatever:

You go back to the shop you bought it from and kick up a stink about the sale of goods act and demand they replace it. A few people have done this and have gotten replacements.

Yes HB it is ridiculous and this is my only gripe with the 360 and something I feel MS are not properly addressing. As I love the games on the 360 I can turn a blind eye but only for so long.
All warranty replacements :)
When it dies out of warranty you use the sale of goods act and stand your ground ;)

Madness...

Oh well, I'm glad that MS are replacing them even out of warranty. Keeps you lot happy and hurts their bottom line ;)

Ive had my 360 since before christmas and its been fine. The update seems all good i like the new little features it has like you can see if a game is joinable because its quite annoying before when you had to click on a name to see if was joinable. I haven't signed up to MSM yet so i can't comment.

As for the keyboard i have got mac keyboard and plugged it straight in. It works a treat :)

MS are good about it though, they even replace the console once its out of warranty. A colleauge at work has one of the original units, it died after 14 months and they sent him a brand new one and picked the old one up :)

It was mainly to do with being ROHS compliant, the soldering on the large ATi GPU chip using lead free solder was not originally done correctly, and every now and then due to excess heat one of the 600+ solder joints failed, causing the problems.

The newer units seem to be ok though :)

I'm not too bothered, as I know MS are replacing them without quibble if there is a problem.

Not had a jot of trouble with mine since i got it at xmas :) So their not all unreliable

It seems to be the early consoles really. I know a dozen or so ones bought at xmas with no problems.

Dr Jones,
All 3 are brand new from a shop.
1: 3 red lights after locking up at the 360 logo screen one day.
2: Started locking up randomly with screen getting funny chess board style look to it and then eventually a blank screen so GPU problem I think.
3: Currently fine, touch wood but not holding too much hope as manufacture date was July, number 2 was June.
