Just some advise needed. I'd like to upgrade my processor.
Current Spec is as below:
PC: Dell Dimension 9100
Chipset: Intel 945P Express
Memory: 2GB (4 x 512mb) PC3200 DDR2
Processor: P4 HT Prescott 630 (3Ghz, 2mb L2, 800 FSB, LGA775)
Now according to the Intel and Dell websites, the 945P chipset will support an FSB of 800 or 1066MHz, meaning it should support the Core 2 Duo processor.
These are lower clock speeds than the P4 HT, so does this mean they produce less heat and my current heatsink and fan should suffice?
Also, will my current memory be ok for a while, or will it not work at the higher 1066MHz FSB?
Any help appreciated.
