we have a 42" pioneer plasma screen and i polugged my 360 in using the red green and blue wires for HDTV and the red and white for sound but couldnt get any sound

i set the res to 1080 and it said in the top top of the screen 1125p for some reason but the picture was fookin amazing just cant seem to get any sound, anyone got any ideas why?

its not the red and white leads as i used it witht he normal tv holes too (red white and yellow) only thing i can think of is the red and white holes in the back of the tv may be fooked? but i also tried the red and white in the front with the HD leads connected and that still didnt work

Try changing the XBox settings under 'Audio' via the XBox dashboard :)

Have you got any other source (eg dvd) you can try on the rear audio inputs?

Check to make sure if you've plugged the leads into the right sockets, the Pioneer might have multiple component inputs!

maybe in the setup you can choose input options for rgb and audio

Make sure you are using the right pair of phonos for audio, I know thats sounds like a simple thing but they are very similar.

Also could you test the audio outs on a hifi or something?

I think if you connect using the component, for the sound you need to connect to seperate amp as it delivers different output for video and audio. Or you can use the RGB scart to get good quality picture as well as the sound from tv

well the cable basically has 6 connectors, red green and blue for hdtv and the red white and yellow for sound and video

in the manual it says for HD connect red green and blue and the white and red do not connect the yellow

im pretty sure ive done it right as its just a simple case of colour matching ;)

i wanted to try it on the stereo but the cables wont reach :(

Yeah as the component red, green and blue and the composite only yellow for video. As the red and white, that's for the audio. You can connect yellow, red and white to tv and i'm sure you can get standard picture and sound from it. But in your case, you use the component (red, green and blue) and i think for high definition, you need separate amp to get the sound as by the time you connect the component, the cable only deliver video signal to give better picture rather than split the signal to video and audio. Another option, you could get RGB scart cable or get component cable with optic cable together and connect the optic cable to your stereo (if there's any). Hope that helps

Ah yes, for some reason I thought there were seperate audio for HDTV and normal AV. My bad! But sounds like you have yours plugged in exactly the same as mine, and mine works fine! Poss dodgy inputs?

make sure that the audio input you are using is actually the same input as the video signal (eg AV3 or EX2 or whatever)

well the picture is on ex2 for the HD so im guessing the audio would be on the same channel but there was no sound on any of the other channels either, this was with the actual connectors you are supposed to used but the are also white red and yellow on the front and i tried the white and yellow on that and still got no sound

but if i just used it without HD it all worked fine (red white and yellow)

i guess its not too much bother because i cant really use it on the screen downstairs too often anyway

i also connected an optical cable to the tv but the optical socket says output on the tv

might have to try the optical cable on the stereo if it has a socket for it

thanks for suggestions anyway

cheers

Is your audio set to analouge and not digital in the xbox dash?
