dark_sounds 23-08-2006, 06:30 PM im guessing spectrum, lol

toxic3001 23-08-2006, 08:07 PM Yer spectrum and i did it to try out the spray gun but the Spectrum is just to thick.I did it realy just to test the SS and i think it look's good in there.

I think the idea being if you are going to seal the porous MDF with something, why not try a heavy deadening paint to see how it fairs... ;)
toxic3001 23-08-2006, 11:54 PM OK its allmost all don just got to seal the top of the box and that's it its take me around 11 houres to make the box :shake: :shake: .
This is the box with a secend coating

The Second Skin - or have you just built the box so nothing to compare it to?
toxic3001 24-08-2006, 08:57 AM Just built it m8 nothing to compare it with but it's taken the high pitch sound out the wood. As in when you knock the wood with your finger it's more of a solid sound.
toxic3001 24-08-2006, 09:26 AM Ok i wonder if spray adhesive will stick to SS if so i can paint the out side of the box to. Let the box sock it right up
DarkGhost 24-08-2006, 09:57 AM Get some PVA glue and mix up a solution with some water and paint the outside of the box. This will seal off the porous properties of the MDF so the SS will be more effective.
toxic3001 24-08-2006, 01:11 PM bit of a update with the secend coat in looking good.

Bass_junkie123 22-09-2006, 11:55 AM so...how does it sound?!
Tweed 22-09-2006, 02:53 PM forgive me if I'm wrong... but this all seams rather pointless... especially in a ported enclosure?

I would say it would sound different.
But yeah, cant imagine there is much point in a ported enclosure
there is more pressure in a ported encosure than a sealed one ;) personally i find gloss paint is good enough to seal the wood etc,
Mark H. 29-09-2006, 11:20 PM I hope you like the sound and tuning of the box now you've covered it in SS, lol, rather than find its not the right size for what you want.

The box sounds nice m8 and its the right size thanks
second skin rep 11-10-2006, 05:39 PM looks like you need to lay the Spectrum on quite a bit thicker.
SHould be about 2mm on an eclosure. whcih will require about 2 gallons on a box that size. How many gallons did you use?
ANT
DiESeLXXX 12-10-2006, 02:07 PM Does it sound louder or better?
I always wanted to know what the benifets of sound deadening your box:confused:

I have found out it take's away the mdf sound out the box if you can call it that.
Get ya box and make a sound in it then there is a sort of echo. With the ss on the echo is gone its just nice and loud.
Its somthing you can not explain in words but i will use dd on my next box i think
