View Full Version : Low Cost Bulk Kit
Mike@CAD 18-08-2006, 03:09 PM We are planing a lower cost bulk kit using regular Damplifier matting.
This can be made available in a number of options, however if you were purchasing your first "bulk" foundation kit which size would be most popular? (price will be competitive with bitchumen equivalents)
Poll to follow...
Mike
ChrisC 18-08-2006, 03:17 PM Mike, to help out, how much do you think a door is AND how much do you think a boot is?
Harry Bo 18-08-2006, 03:19 PM I'd say you should aim for 40sq ft. 20 isn't enough to describe it as "bulk" IMO and if people want more, they can just buy multiple packs :)
HB
jonas 18-08-2006, 03:19 PM Doors would be under 15sq/ft, boots are to big a range to say really.
ChrisC 18-08-2006, 03:23 PM based on that assumption that a door is 15, i've said 40. enough to do each door and some left over is a good amount
jonas 18-08-2006, 03:29 PM based on that assumption that a door is 15, i've said 40. enough to do each door and some left over is a good amount
You would have loads left over as 16sq/ft would mean that the door was 4' x 4' and there aren't any doors going to be that size. I just said under 15 to give a rough over estimate:)
I also voted for 40sq/ft as I would be going mainly on price and the price for 40sq/ft would be an acceptable amount of money for me to put in the car as I wouldn't want to spend loads on it due to me not keeping the astra for very long. :)
Mike@CAD 18-08-2006, 03:32 PM It gets cheaper in bigger quantities and people often commented that the Brown Bread Bulk was a better quantity (65 sq.ft)
ChrisC 18-08-2006, 03:39 PM well i bought one of the rolls and that was great
SwitchBlade 18-08-2006, 03:41 PM I voted for 80 but only because there wasn't an option for 60. When we did Leo's C4, we had 2 boxes of Damplifier Pro (so 72sqft) which did 2 layers and a bit in the boot (Leo went a bit overkill in places), 2 layers in the doors and one layer on the door innerskins with 4 sheets left over. So to me 60sqft seems about the right size.
jonas 18-08-2006, 03:48 PM I didn't realise the regular kits only did 4sq/ft :wow:
40sq/ft at the current price would be £150 and I wouldn't be prepared to waste that much money on the astra seen as I'm getting rid of it soon.
Andy@React 18-08-2006, 03:59 PM 2 door kits and a however much you got in a dynamat trunk kit would be a bulk kit IMO
its kind of a nice point to be at with deadening, but people could add to it if they wanted to go OTT :)
so probably 40-50sqft
[EDIT] just noticed SS do a trunk kit too wich is 20sqft, so 20 + 12 + 12 = 44sqft! that would be good IMO :)
dark_sounds 18-08-2006, 04:09 PM 60sqft vote here...
for us saloon drivers,,, 36 was just about enough for my boot,,,, got another bulk kit for the doors, and i havnt doubled up in the boot either :( dont think i need to either tbh,
the door kit is 12sqft iirc, and that did 1 layer on the outer skin..
preferably i would like 2outer skin layers and 1 inner skin layer, so i voted 40sq ft :)
although that was damplifier pro, not sure if i'd be interested in regular damplifier
jonas 18-08-2006, 04:32 PM price will be competitive with bitchumen equivalents
When you say that do you mean you it's going to be competative with the bodyline stuff?
SwitchBlade 18-08-2006, 04:36 PM I'm assuming they mean brownbread/dynamat original which are a touch more expensive than Bodyline, if they can do it at bodyline prices I'm pre-ordering.
jonas 18-08-2006, 04:40 PM I'm assuming they mean brownbread/dynamat original which are a touch more expensive than Bodyline, if they can do it at bodyline prices I'm pre-ordering.
I think there must be an error on the bodyline website as it says the 500x500mm pack of 10 sheets is cheaper than the 250x500mm pack of 10 sheets :wow:
Mike@CAD 18-08-2006, 04:56 PM When you say that do you mean you it's going to be competative with the bodyline stuff?
No comparable to Brown Bread / Ivanhoe / eDead / Rblox
I was hoping for around £2/sq.ft
Mike
SwitchBlade 18-08-2006, 04:58 PM That's not a bad price.
EDIT afterthought: Where's my prize for stating the bloody obvious?
toxic3001 18-08-2006, 07:04 PM i depend's on the size of the car i think i would do 3 set
40 sq'ft for car's like Corsa's and so on.
70 sq'ft for car's like a Astra's and so on.
100 sq'ft for car's like Vectra's and so on.
KaosKustomsUK 18-08-2006, 07:26 PM 40sq foot.
Just enough to do the doors resonably. and maybe have some left over
timreeves 18-08-2006, 07:36 PM i'd say 50 to 60 so then theres definately gonna be enough to make a noticeable difference all round the car, and as this product is aimed at entry level to deadening it would be a good way to sell the product to those that are un-informed :)
drfeelgood 18-08-2006, 08:03 PM Agree with the emo (can't remember the last time I was responsible for that combination of words :wow:) - 60 for me too, and for much the same reasons. I've now almost lost count of how much has disappeared into the Landy (1 bulk roll of brownbread, 1 bulk pack of damplifier pro, 1 sheet of motor mat, 1 sheet of luxury liner, 1 made-to-measure cabin sound-absorber, and still a tub of firewall to go )
SwitchBlade 19-08-2006, 06:09 AM And I'm assuming that's only covered half of it?
timreeves 19-08-2006, 12:22 PM And I'm assuming that's only covered half of it?
Yep, he can't find a way to apply anything to the panel gaps :D
Blade 19-08-2006, 12:37 PM I'd say 60 is about right to do a reasonable job on a boot, and front doors...
drfeelgood 19-08-2006, 09:25 PM And I'm assuming that's only covered half of it?
Not even close..... :shake: :D The panel gaps are another problem entirely
soahc 19-08-2006, 09:39 PM What about offering several options instead of the single one so the punter can decide for themselves based on the car they have? :)
If I had to choose one size, then it'd probably be either 40 or 60 sq ft.
Gunswick 20-08-2006, 01:58 PM im interested in this, whats the release date?
toxic3001 20-08-2006, 05:28 PM me to
Chris_Robb 21-08-2006, 10:38 AM See, I think if your trying to buy a bulk kit I reckon you'd want it to be able to do as much of your car as possible). So I have to go for 100.
toxic3001 13-09-2006, 09:54 PM any up date on this yet guru
firestarter 14-09-2006, 07:30 AM Whatever it is, can I have it next week?
yeah.. i am gettin ready to put new system in.. need some deadening
Mike@CAD 14-09-2006, 10:11 AM Good news and bad....
Good: The kit is finalised and on its way from SS. :)
Bad: We wont start shipping out until this time next month. :(
p.s we have also just gone out of stock of Damplifier Pro Bulk until next month too :( :( (although we do have trunk and door kits)
Mike
Dunc2610 14-09-2006, 10:13 AM What is the quantity for the bulk discussed here, and is there any chance of a special price on trunks kits and there are no bulk kits available!?
toxic3001 14-09-2006, 10:15 AM Guru any prices yet on this and what ss is it going to be and what size will it come in all so ?.
Mike@CAD 14-09-2006, 02:41 PM Regular Damplifier in 40sq.ft kits at £79.99 :)
You should find that £2/sq.ft on branded butyl based product (not inferior bitchumen) is highly competitive ;)
Mike
Dunc2610 14-09-2006, 02:44 PM 40sq ft is the trunk kit correct? How many sq ft and how much will the bulk pack be? Cheers amigo....
Edit, sorry being a bit special here, was thinking of the Pro, so twice as much of normski stuff for the same price of a trunk kit of the Pro. which is good pricing i think...
bass_junkie83 14-09-2006, 03:18 PM i think u will find that is the bulk pack. the damplifier pro bulk pack is 36sq ft and costs £130
Mike@CAD 14-09-2006, 03:18 PM You will now have a choice
Damplifier Bulk 40sq.ft - £79.99
Damplifier Pro Bulk 36.sq.ft - £129.99
When you think that the regular is still butyl based and with foil backing, it is a very good bulk alternative if you need to buy multiples for maximum coverage.
Mike
bass_junkie83 14-09-2006, 03:19 PM do you know the density of each at all guru?
EDIT: dont worry, its on cad.
normal damplifier is 2.05kg/m^2
daplifier pro is 2.44kg/m^2
as normal damplifier is about half the price, you could use swice as much and it would be 4.88kg/m^2 for the same price as the pro stuff
thats pretty :smokin: as long as i havnt ballsed up along the line somewhere
Dunc2610 14-09-2006, 03:30 PM Might well invest in a bulk pack just to do some more layers underneath of the Pro i've got, would be handy if there was a trunk kit for the normski stuff...then could double up and have two layers normski on outer skins and two layers pro on the inner....
Miker 02-10-2006, 03:10 PM i would say 60 would be about right for me. would give enough to do the doors and boot on a hatchback car to a decent standard. As this is entry level bulk pack i would be wanting to buy one lot and that be enough to do the basics.
toxic3001 02-10-2006, 04:09 PM any dates on this yet some time this mth ?
Miker 02-10-2006, 06:53 PM i'm going to be interested in some of this, will it be a long standing thing or limited offer?
dark_sounds 02-10-2006, 07:04 PM how about its adhesive properties?? is it similar to damplifier pro?? thinking of using two layers for the roof which obviously gets very hot.

dark_sounds 03-10-2006, 05:01 PM cheers switchblade ,
damn good adhesion! and tempreture test, good stuff
Dunc2610 06-10-2006, 03:28 PM Is the bulk pack of Damplifier still not available or am i being blind?
dark_sounds 07-10-2006, 07:12 PM still not availible i dont think ??
macksimus 06-11-2006, 10:31 AM should be due in about now, by my reckoning! any update Guru?

mack

ModifiedMadness 12-11-2006, 01:58 PM Any idea when the Damplifier Pro Bulk Kit will be in?
