View Full Version : Using my first lot of SS Spectrum

This seems like a perfect time to post this what with the special offer starting, so i wanted to use it on the engine cover of the phantom.
First of all the surface was throughly cleaned using some panel wipe:

Heres what the tub of gunk looks like:

First layer brushed on, i did put it on fairly thick as well

I wasnt worried about it being flat because its going to have a mat over the top of this anyway.

As it starts to dry it changes colour as well

Once it had dried i used a scraper to clean the edges up and make it look much tidier :)

not very, but enough to spread it easily.

How thick must the sludge be then if the spectrum isn't very runny :confused:

woah ordered 2 gallons of sluge and spectrum, got a feeling i wont need the sludge,,, this stuff looks fine as is.... how does it compare with the sound deadening charachteristics of sound deadening matt??

yes :)

And it compares quite well, the panel is definately heavier, and has more of a thud when its hit now, next ill give it a layer of a mat of some sort and then it'll be done..

what is the restrictions on sound deadening in different events???? 4mm max in iasca is it??? i dont remmeber! :(

oh well, reason i didnt is i want a nice shiny heat reflective surface above the engine, which is just what the matting has so ner :p

i havent tried to sand it.

use the stuff for in the engine bay then?! :p

although, damplifier pro does say "adheres to spectrum" so you will probably be ok
