More importantly, is he likely to cough up the enormous amount required to fix?! Did you have household insurance?

Would be a write off, but I have found quite a few screens quite cheap, but in america :( However my friend is coming over soon, so may be able to get him to bring one. Otherwise, I think there are a few powerbooks on ebay cheap enough. If I was going to get a new one, it would have to be the mac book pro.

I don't see how she would have any say in the matter - if you break something that belongs to someone else, you pay for it, end of story!

It might be worth checking if he has household contents insurance, that way you can get a brand spanking new one :smokin:

J I have bought mac bits from a german supplier, Apple are stupidly anal about who can repair macs and no one bends the rules over here, I'll see if I can find a link to the german company who were happy to sell me pretty much anything (got plenty of bits for my mac mini off them, they are not particularly cheap but they will sell you the stuff).
