right thanks to rubberised sheet sound deadening and duct tape to secure all pipes my boot is completely rattle free, however i wonered if using spray wall cavity filler type spray in my boot would help prevent a bit of the noise getting out the car?

It would indeed but be careful you dont over do it if using expanding foam!

Avoid any moving parts with it, i heard stories of people overdoing doors and going back the next morning to not be able to open them and all they can see is it expanding out of the draining points. As its filler it'll be an arse to remove.

Wouldn't go anywhere near my car with that stuff! Very unpredictable and difficult to reverse. :(

used loads of expanding foam on saxo bootlid. It filled up the gaps so it was like one solid bootlid and no rattles at all.
Be careful in that if you put too much in and there's no space for it to expand then the bootlid may deform. Just do it in stages.

I have thought about it but what if you needed to service anything inside?? eg a wiper motor etc??

The saxo one was empty and covered the wiper motor with cardboard which I removed after deadening. The audi has too many holes around the frame and lots of cables too so not bothering doing that.

Basically don't let it touch anything you may need to access.
