Recently installed everything and now i'm looking to sound deaden my two front doors. Question is how hard is it to sound deaden? what price and amount am i lookin at?

once the doors are sound deadened i will be buying these

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=3851

theres too much bass in the back end at the moment so hopefully these will push some sound out from the front.

I found dynamat extreme really easy to work with. Used a 2" wide wallpaper roller to work it in. Really solidifies the doors up too. Mine now sound like wood!

Deadening is relatively easy. Just take your time and make sure the layers are properly applied.

Cost is down to what you use. 2 packs of clicky (http://www.bodyshopwarehouse.co.uk/shop/shop.asp?prodid=2655) will be relatively cheap and get you 2 layers on the outer skin of each door. You'd then want a third pack to do the inner skin, but you are still looking at ~35 quid to do it all.

Even cheaper is flashing tape from somewhere like wickes but rep wise it's not that good and needs lots of layers for the same effect.

Moving on up something like Dynamat Xtreme (clicky (http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=1040)) or Second Skin Damplifier (clicky (http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=4851)) are more expensive but you need less layers for the same effect.

so how is this applied? is any adhesive needed or does the back peel off ready to be rolled on?
when you say outer skin is this applied to the actual inside of the metal door panel, then inside skin attached to the plastic door card?

the dynamat stuff, to do two doors how many packs will i need?

sorry about the amount of q's but new to using this stuff.

oh yeh i remember, no sorry i didnt take any pics and the door cards are back on now  lol erm.. its relitivly easy mate really, if you get extreme (dont buy original its crap!!) you just un clip all of the wires and things from the door including the door releasing mechanism which just pops out with a bit of force, lay the sheets of deadening on and bring the wires through so they are on top of the deadening, just role all the deadening into the contours of the door with the roller thing covering all holes its really easy.

couple of hints from experience of mine:

the door cards do come off but the clips are very strong so you just need to pull, if you hear a loud cracking sound as you are doing this dont worry its just the clips un clipping.

there is a big foam thing attatched to the door card (you will see what i mean), now for this i cut a hole in the deadening so that the foam thing would go back in but im sure you could take it off somehow (doesnt seem to be doing much) and cover the hole up-this would be better!!

hope this helps and sorry for lack of pictures

that 1 ur on about is just short of one door, think the extreme door pack is about £60ish but is what u need to do a proper job. it just has a peel back sdhesive that sticks straight on, its really easy to work with trust me :)

the custom kit is fine, i used 1 pack per door, but i would recommend u use 2 packs per door, gets expensive then

why not try this?

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=4860

think im gonna be layering over everywhere with it!

Deadening on the outer skin:

And starting the inner skin:

TBH from past experience it's better to go more overkill than underkill. Get a couple of layers on the outer skin so that it thuds dull-ly rather than rings when you tap it and then layer over the inner skin sealing all the holes to create a chamber for the mid.

Most sheet style sound deadening is self adhesive. Get it warm before you apply it to make it more flexible and easier to work with.

Side note if you go for Xtreme go for at least 2 packs of the custom kit. I used 2 door kits on my Xsara and it wasn't enough.

2 rolls of something like brownbread or ivanhoe per door done me. sounded amazing, little extra around and behind the speaker aint a bad idea either. and remember, you dont have to cover every inch of the door, just the larger areas that will rattle/vibrate (imo)

iv done a fair bit of soundproofing, found -
1 roll for the boot lid (more than enough)
2 rolls per door (again, plenty)
1 roll per rear quater panel
2/3 rolls in the boot (depending on car and what you wana do)
