I know this has been discussed before on here, but is Lightscribe really not taking off? I was going to get a drive to see what it's like, but CD-R media seems to be pretty rare and expensive.
Not worth it?

I've got lightscribe. I really love it when I've done it but tbh I havent used it much and its technically my christmas present to my dad!
About 5 DVD-r's from ebuyer for just under £2 iirc. Not too bad as the plan is those DVd-r's are for keeps!
Its not too expensive just get to have a play and see what you think.
Full face printable cds/dvds and a printer like the Epson R200/300 is a much better bet - a lot cheaper for the discs, and you can print whatever you like on them in full colour.

i dont think its that its just still a new tchnology thats still expensive 5 years ago the same was said about dvds and in a years time im sure the same will be said about blue ray. Im sure itl have its time but might not be until you start getting litescribe blueray disks also remember not many companies have taken it on I can only think of hp that I know for sure do it I think the market is really preparing itself for blue ray atm and everything else is taking a back seat.
I think the same is really happening with dual layer dvds although a lot of drives support dual layer not many people actually seem to be using it

A good idea, but not something I'd use often enough to warrent buying tbh.
Think I'll just stick with a pack of pens for £1 ;)
phillips do a few lightscribe products as well, its mainly an HP thing though. ive got a lightscribe drive, havent got any discs yet. i personally cant see a use for it. i dont really keep any CD's or DVD's, if i burn something to disc its to give to someone else, or store a backup. so il look at it maybe 3 or 4 times, not gonna spend 4 times as much just for pretty laser patterns on it!
if the prices come down to under 20p a disc then il consider using it more :)
