Im buying a new car tomorrow, it'd be nice to see what people have done in an E46 before so I can start planning a new install. So far Im thinking simple 2 way and upfront sub (Tounge in cheek). All pics and any info is welcome though.

im in the process at the mo on an e46 keep ya posted but so far got 5.25 db audio components upfront 6.5 db audio comps up rear running off hertz 400w 4 channel rms amp
just waiting for 2 spl dynamic subs 12" for boot and i have a 3k rms amp in there and 5 dryfit batts !!!!!

i have a sealed sub on the rear shelf, and some door builds, ill be doing 2 way active.

I am busy with my touring at the moment. I have a bunch of pics, but there is a lot of work to do on those doors.

They need to be cut to get a proper mid in place. Also if you want anything bigger then a 6in in the front you would need to rework the front of the doors.

I will update with pics shortly.

Im more interested in how the midrange will sound tbh got plans for an upfront sub for bottom end, especially after picking the car up today, loads of room

As above 6 should be fine with an upfront sub, Iv got no problems with hacking away behind the door card but Im going for stealthy as possible so dont want to touch the interior. ATM

If you want more midbass Jenhert make replacement door cards with two 6 inch locations and a stock look.

Think they are just for 2 way systems from memory and are quite pricey. You might be better getting some replacement door cards from a breaker and modifying those if you are likely to end up going 3 way.

Cause I know what 'I'm just putting a simple system' in means. It will be 4 way fully active with TA within 12 months.

^^^^ . ahhh but sire, its been a full 36 hours since mine started pounding proppa and i havent been tempted yet (he says with tongue in cheak with a 3sixty and Pioneer Carrozzeria DEH-P710 on its way )

i also looked into the jenert cards, and they are quite flimsy im told,plus the tweeter location is pants.

i think they are about 450.00 per set.

Will be updating my build thread soon! Finally got my amp I was waiting for! Although E46 compact doors are easier to work on !

mine was a bit of a pain, but once i got over almost slicing my finger in half, i cracked on and now im 99% finished

I was actually taking a pop at a good friend who was just going to put a decent two way into his M3 as he didn't want to get into the whole EMMA thing again, and wanted to keep the car looking stock, then the image was too low so he needed some mids, then the stock Hu and bit 10 wasn't good enough and he now has a fully active 3 way system and P9..........

been on this slope constantly since 1990 or there abouts
i now have enough amps, speakers, headunits wiring to complete at least 5 full cars and still have half a dozen amps left over as spares

Oh and some silver tweeter pods that stick out like a dogs chrome plated dangly's after telling me he wanted to keep it stealth... isn't it.

I'm mostly not guilty on this front as I hate working on cars. Top up the fluids, change a headlight bulb waxing etc is fine but installing is my idea of hell. Pretty odd considering the game I'm in I know.
