Hi, Gone are my days of big booming subwoofers and 0 gauge wiring, But in my Civic Type R (55 plate EP3) the stock head unit looks likea Lidl Special! So I want to upgrade it to this one:

Am I going to run into any issues? I've heard fitting the fascia can be a nightmare? Any Fascia kits necessary?

Does that HU have a large box that you have to mount somewhere or is it all in one? I remember all my Single DIN motorised screens needing a seperate box or 2 to install which was a nightmare!

thanks!

It looks like the same one I just put in my mates 350z, if it is then there are no hideaway boxes to worry about

facia fitment isn't too bad but you do need to remove the lower drivers side dash trim and the the glove box so you can get to the 2 pain in the backside 8mm bolts that hold the h/u in place
this will help

Change of plan, Im going to spend my money on engine mods ;)

But I still want to use my iPhone 4S in this car.....

2 Options, buy one of those adapters so I have an Aux port, or put my Pioneer Single DIN in, which has full USB/iPod kit. Will this need a fascia?

Thanks

Edit: This maybe?

Search google and you will find plenty of threads and pictures of single and double din installs in an EP3. For either you dont have to use a fascia adapter but it looks better using one as then everything is flush.

You dont NEED one in the EP3 but it looks better with one. Currently looking to install a double din for ours so while researching I have seen plenty of installs with and without a fascia.

With fascia: http://www.civicspor...ldup/stereo.jpg and without: http://media.photobu...nix_/HUOpen.jpg

In the one without the person has installed something else underneath but you would keep the compartment under the stereo, but as you can see the stereo above will be recessed.

Edit: Better image of a single din install without fascia: http://media.photobu...12022009208.jpg

without a facia it looks messy
as for the last one that just looks like a modified aftermarket facia thats been chopped up
also without using a facia whats he going to use to fill the bottom half???? as he has a single din unit
