Hi all,
We have now launched a new classifieds system for TA. This has been a long time in the making, and we have consulted with the members of MO for input to ensure we got as much feed back as possible. What you see now is what we have.
You will notice in the sidebar, we now have a "latest classifieds" item, and you can access the new classifieds system from the menu at the top, or from the new classifieds link in the forum list.

Obviously with a new system comes new rules, so without being exhaustive, here we go:

1. From here on in, all classifieds items under £20 are free to list. Between £20 and £50 cost 50p, and items over £50 cost £1.
2. Each listing will contain only one item, with the following exceptions:
Bundles of cable or installation accessories can be listed as one item
Collections of DVDs or CD can be listed as one item

Questions we expect to be asked, and their pre-empted answers:

Q. I see you are only accepting Paypal, can't I pay by BACS, Cheque, *enter other method here*
A. No. We are only accepting Paypal, as it is easy, all the security is taken care of by them, and it means the mod team can spend it on online porn subscriptions more easily.

Q. Can we pay for multiple items at once.
A. No, we have spent enough time getting it to where it is. We will however say "never say never", we may look at more features in the future

Q, I have 4 amps/speakers/whatever all the same, can I list them as one item, but state multiple quantity?
A. No, either list them 4 times, or if you absolutely must, PM a mod, pay the difference via paypal directly - but either way you will need permission to do this, with the exclusion of the bundles/collections stated above.

Q. Why have you done this, TA has always been free?
A. Yes it has, but more and more people are using it as a trading ground. That, coupled with the fact that Guru has to put his hand in his pocket every year to fund the T-Meets & licensing fees, this has been a long time coming and is long overdue.

Q. By charging, are you not accepting liability for the transactions?
A. No. Treat this as the same as AutoTrader or your local newspaper, can you hold them responsible for the car you bought/sold just because you saw the advert there/paid for the advert with them? We will of course continue to police the classifieds, and weed out the bad sellers/buyers, and the criteria for access will remain the same - it may even get a tad tighter.

Q. Now you are charging, can we profiteer on items?
A. Nope - the communities ethos remains the same.

Q. Can you add this category/that category etc etc?
A. We will review this from time to time, and if we see many common things turning up in the "misc/everything else" section, we will indeed add it.

This post will no doubt be ammended as things arise/change.

Cheers
