I've recently installed my alpine ida-x313 but the USB just doesn't want to work properly. Technical support at caraudiodirect didn't seem to be able to help and Alpine haven't return my call. I hope someone on here recognises the symptoms and can help. Hopefully it's just user error or something to do with my tracks, memory stick or something.

This is what happens...

Switch to USB input
The screen displays "Banking" (as expected from the manual)
A track begins playing (not always the same track)
After about 30 seconds the track stops and nothing happens for a few seconds
The the screen displays something like "no usb input" and then after a few more seconds...
The screen displays "searching"
Then the same track starts playing again.

This happens over and over and during some iterations another 10-20 seconds of the track is played.

Only once has the end of a song been reached and another track begun playing (only to stop a few seconds later)

During playback the play/pause button works but the track selection (previous/next) does not which according to the manual should work.

Here's hoping. Cheers

The problems were from when using a USB stick (formatted correctly as FAT32) rather than a specific mp3 player. I've not had another stick to experiment with until this afternoon so will try that out.

I tried an iPod this morning and it plays/pauses fine and seeks ok but everything goes to cock if I attempt to skip to previous or next tracks. Unit doesn't do anything for a bit then displays something along the lines of "No USB media".

I really didn't expect these problems at all. Needless to say I'm getting quite pi***d off.

Cheapest things first.

1) Check all your wiring, especially th USB for installation damage and poor connections
2) Try a different USB key.
