Adam had 2 x 18" in his Seat Marbella.

Dieter, Adam had a pair of 15's (i'm sure they were 15's not 18's) in the saxo. Remember going across to Ireland (what an event!) in it gassing ourselves out by overcharging the batteries ! it was also the trip that we spent the night in a hotel just off the ferry, slept in and missed work on the monday morning !

I had 3 x 15's in my 106, but had to stagger them. It was however a 5 door so could bring the box further forward. Still managed 160+ out of it.

Now you're asking....erm...from memroy i'm sure i was between 57 and 62 Hz but don't quote me on that. I think with a max of 161.9 back in 2005.

I can't even remember my terra's frequency, it was higher though and got the 165 with that.

Build your box / install. Then test at a range of frequencies. Recording the spl (db) as well as voltage output from amp and current. From this you'll be able to draw a graph of impedance vs frequency. You'll notice something about where the loudest spl was recorded ;)

Edit : the above test does not have to be at full power - this is to save stressing equipment. We were reconing 99's a fair bit at one time  BUT your peak frequency will change dependant on power.

The 106 initially had 3 x DD9915's D2's showing 1ohm.

Initally with 3 x SPL D ext2000ds then with 6.

The batteries were 8 x 2v forklift bats, which were no good. then changed to 12 x 8v cells from golf carts then added another 6 in a battery box below the vehicle. Charged from twin 200A alts with variable reg and a normal 12v alt for the cars electrics.

I drove it in the beginning, including long drives to ESB Sinsheim, but got fed up with mechanical failures due to weight so trailered after that. Most of the older members on here knew it :) Some of them will remember the red 106 which i wrote off whilst they were all away at the euro finals one here and i stayed behind...doh....

After that came the terra with lots of help from dumdum, tim verhey, tim maatman etc ;) Wish i'd made both vehicles louder :( But times move on.

I feel old now

ah my south african friend, i had two sx 18's in the saxo, in a wall very similar to how the pic in your first post is, its crap tbh, there is a way to do it for bonus spl ;)

ill send you a pm! its an idea i had yrs ago to get max spl out of a terra for spl in street max, but could be transfered to what you wish to do ;)

i reckon start with the biggest box you can get! then work smaller, bigger is good for efficiency, smaller is better for resonance of the box, but the port also plays a part in that too, i would take efficiency any day, plus with the port you can effectively force the box to tune higher or lower overall ;)

more power smaller box, lower power bigger box

more power the bigger the port

hope this helps ;)

you should p**s a 155 with my design i reckon ;)

Adam, before the 18's...weren't there are pair of pro plus 15's in there ? Or was that when we were both playing in NW ?

I do recall the 18's now though.
